Paint seal used cars

The other day I got into a discussion with the service manager at the dealership I do some work for. They had me do a paint seal on a used car, (normally I do new cars) the car was in great need of a complete detail prior to doing the paint seal. The service manager said, I can't pay you to do the detail, only the paint seal. So with much regrete, I did what he asked. As you can imagion the job did not turn out well at all. Their were plenty of defects that shoud of been removed before doing the final step. Later that day I wrote an e mail to the sales staff and said that before they sell a paint seal on a used car they must include a complete detail as part of the package. I don't understand how some people think this business works? Gary

That is too bad. I know durability will be affected, but using a one step polish/sealant might be worth it if the dealership refuses a separate polishing process.

I've never understood how dealers can cheap out on a car's appearance like that.

All they care about is making it look shiny and smell good and then making the sale. It's really sad. A consumer like myself would actually respect and want to purchase only from a particular dealership that actually cared about correctly caring for the automobiles they are selling.

That is definitley true. I think the only place I ever seen where

the cars looked well taken care of was a spot on the west side

of Manhattan near the highway. Even the "highend" dealers (the

one selling MBs, Bimmers, Jags, and Porschies, seem to have cars

that look shiny, but you can tell no one has really given the

cars the treatment they desrve.
