I am a new owner of a car that I am very interested in maintaining. Needless to say i have no idea where to start when it comes to preserving a car. I dont even know the difference between buffing and polishing let alone the right equipment to buy. Can someone please give me some words of wisdom? I own a vehicle with camilian paint. There are severe scratches that a previous owner tried fixing using a magic pen but all he did was leave nasty stcky goop all over the place. How do I fix this goop problem?

If its touchup paint, it can easily be removed with a product like Langka. Post up some pictures and we'll try to help.
