paint measure gauges...

i just spoke with elcometer... and the gauge they have is $725... that's a little (read. a lot) pricey for my, so i was wondering what's the best and cheapest gauge around

i'm looking to get one just to be safer with the paint, especially on SS cars

please let me know if you have experience with some and where to buy
