Paint Coatings

I took my last car with Opti Coat 2.0 no longer available through the auto car wash all the time last winter. If the car wash mars your paint, it will probably mar your coating too. The coating itself held up just fine, the car was silver and I am sure it wasn't perfect but it still looked good enough to me.

When you say swirl-free did you take it through any automatic car washes? Or what kind of abuse did it take?

Coated or not, why would an autopian go through an automatic car wash? You still have to wash your car properly, just like you need to use quality oil to keep your engine running its best.

My car sits outside 24/7 so its always exposed to the weather here in north Texas which can vary from teens and ice to well over 100 degrees, thunderstorms, drought, etc. Washed about every 7-10 days with ONR. The Honda dealer washed it once when it was in for a recall, had no idea they washed cars, didn't even think to tell them hands off. Plus I've had the timing belt changed, both axles and the automatic rebuilt over the last few years and the marring on the front fenders (from the covers and people leaning over the fenders) was very minimal, had to catch the light right to even notice it.

As I posted in another thread...

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:'helvetica neue', helvetica, arial, sans-serif;font-size:14.4444446563721px;">I just used Gloss-Coat for the first time on Friday.  As critical as I've been about the whole Opti-Coat Pro decision, I have to say I love Gloss-Coat already.  This stuff is RIDICULOUSLY EASY to apply.  While I've not used other coatings out there, this has to be one, if not the easiest coating to apply.  On top of that, it was like wiping on slickness.  Unlike Opti-Coat Pro/2.0, this stuff is super slick during & after application.
