Paint Applied Rock Guard

On my 2001 Miata, I have on the lower 12 inches of the sides what someone has told me is an original equipment paint applied rock guard. It looks like there is a big piece of tape under the paint. Do I have to do anything different when claying and sealing this area?

Nope - go for it. - It might break apart your clay a little, but not a big deal. These areas tend to have alot of contaminants because they are so bumpy.
