Pads in bulk?

Just wondering if there is anywhere that sells pads in bulk? I have checked with my local detail suppliers but their cost is crazy.

Also, has anyone had problems with the GG 6" DA destroying pads? I have always used a PC and never had a problem but today I used my new GG and it blew up 2 pads...what gives?

What pads? I have a GG6 and zero issues using LC and Buff & Shine Pads. Check out ADS they have good deals on pads

LC white flat pads. Both of them had been used several times before but were clean and dry before use. It appeared as thought the velcro backing melted and the addhesive gave way. One of the pads actually blew up into pieces and the other had a hole in the velcro right in the middle of the pad. I was using Poli-seal on speed 6.

Lake Country offers bulk pricing.

Can pads be ordered directly from LC? I took a look on their website and did not see pricing, just info on becoming a distributor.

The prices in the Autopia store seem OK but selection is limited. In bulk I am just looking for a 5.5 or 6" polishing and light cutting pad similar to LC white and orange.

Do I smell a group buy in the making?

Yes. You need to contact Eric Dunn @ LC directly about a bulk order and why your pads are getting destroyed.

They are offering a new unique pad system that may help you with the problem you're experiencing. They buy 10's of thousands of pads and should be able to offer you a bulk discount. I'd try sending tunch123 a PM here or call 3D directly.

Keep in mind that polishes that are oil based have a tendancy of getting hotter than water based ones. I've seen this over-stress certain pads. One remedy is to swap out pads way more often so they aren't exposed to these constant temps.

Thanks for the info David. I have sent emails to Detail Plus, LC, and 3D to get info on pricing.

This is what happened to my pads. I had a new guy operating the machine so I will have to watch to see if he is doing anything abnormal while polishing.

dude, you are not doing anything abnormal. its happened to me twice now with the GG DA on 6. BUT, only with the hydro pads! all my other LC pads are find with the GG. Its the adhesive that melts and gives and then you get the middle tearing apart! There is a cost with more power from the GG machine over the PC!

With that said, I do get better results with the GG over the PC, so Ill just either dial it down to 5 on a softer pad, or keep it at 6 on a cutting pad and deal with buying more pads more often....results are worth it IMO.

Buff n Shine pads arent the best IMO (local shop carries them and I bought, used once, never again)

Meguiars pads - too much of a jump from their polishing pad to the finishing pad.

LC has the best line up....

cutting

light cut

heavy polish

light polish

super light polisha

I got an email back from LC today. They say that the Griots Garage on speed 5 or 6 creates too much heat for their flat pads which causes them to blow apart or melt. They also only sell through distributors which I thought would be the case.

I'd suggest checking out the "Uber" foam pads from Detailers Domain, many members here have raved about the durability of their adhesive on their pads. I bought a set of 5.5" pads from them and the only problem I had was with my yellow cutting pad flaking while doing heavy cutting. DD also states on their site the durability of their adhesive as well. A pack of 5x 5.5" pads is $35.95 right now, I believe I got free shipping with a coupon code when I ordered mine as well.

Speed 6 on the GGDA is definitely too much for the LC pads. I've used them on 5 without issue though. I also use 3-4 foam pads per product step on the DA too.

The new pads at the Autopia/3D store are very reasonably priced in bulk...under $5 a pad in quantities over 24.
