Paddeterioration

Do pads deteriorate over time when they are stored, but not used?

I was using a LC 6 inch pad and it began to come apart during us. To the best of my knowledge this is only the 2nd or 3rd time the pad was used.

Only thing I could thing of is the bad is probably 3 or 4 years old.

thoughts?

I've had pads crumble into dust on me after storing them in plastic baggies. Probably due to there being just enough moisture in the bag to allow some nasty mold or something to sit in there and eat the pad.

open air!

I machine wash my pads, then tumble them on the low setting, or medium depending on the amount of pads. I wring them out as best I can too as teh softer pads hold onto more water.

then I store them in my pad case which holds about 30 pads. I put 4 hols in it, one in each corner. granted I am using them at least 3 times a week if not all week long, but I have never experienced what you have...maybe try that, but dont wash and seal them up or they will mold!

Any pics of this setup?

I wash/dry them and then store them in either my cheapie plastic drawer units (not remotely air/dust tight :o ) or in Rubber Maid Rough-Totes.

I have some pads dating to the 80's that're still OK, but some have discolored a bit. No crumbling/hardening/etc. though, at least not that I've noticed.
