pad cleaning

I can't comment on those but I do have 3 of the Griots MF buffing towels. After 2 washes they are already starting to lint. :down

They don't even compare to the Neatitems towels..

hi I just got a porter cable polisher, what I would like to know is there something locallly I could use to clean the pads with? like soap and water and a brush? They are lake county pads,I have the whole set thank you!

After using a pad I will throw is in a bucket of water and when im finished I will get my grit gaurd, put 1 pad ontop at a time and hose them off. That's my way of cleaning my pads

I have always washed my pads in the kitchen sink with dishwashing soap and a little vinegar added in. While detailing I throw them in a bucket of APC and water to soak until the wife is gone before I invade her kitchen. LOL. I have been looking at pad washers and steamers but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have seen a pad washer in action and it did a good job and have heard of people steaming them off but would have to see this done in person before I make a choice.

I have the L/C Pad Washer. It will work great on all but the Hydro-Tech pads, which it will help Shred, more than they already do with use. This machine works best with a Rotary.
You put an envelope of Snappy Clean in the bucket, fill it with water half way,, and you are set for a week or two.

Recently, believe it was Todd talked about using Meguiars Super Degreaser on pads, and I tried it. By hand, this cleans pads quickly, and rinses out way faster than any other soap I have ever used.

One caveat - you need to be careful how strong your mix is or it can remove the microfiber backing off the foam pad.

Do a search on this and find out what mixture he was using, etc...

I have a VX5000 but have never thought of steaming the pads; would worry what 298 deg could do to the microfiber backing, anyone have experience here ?

I have a grit guard pad cleaner, over here works out at $180! however, clean pads work better.

I also do the hand wash at the end of the day on some pads which just lime the grit guard cleaner.
