Pad Advice...

Heck, I'm glad both of you are here.

Impulse buy today...W66 BP is on it's way! AR and anyone else, is the White Kompressor pad the only one to get or should I also pick up black/red? I.E., Black pad with M205 and Red pad with 85RD or is that redundant? I'd like to get away with just black or just red for both M205 and 85RD. It'd be cool if we could build our own combo, of say 6 pads, on the PAC site.

I use the other pads also. M205 needs something after it in my opinion. It just doesn't have the gloss that 85rd or Ultrafina has. It works great to remove minor defects but find that it needs to be followed.

Got my Kompressor pads in today from PAC, thanks guys!!! OK, these might be 7" pads, but they feel smaller and lighter than a 6.5" CCS pad. I ended up getting 3 of the 3 packs; white, black and gold. Got my W66 plate from ADS Friday so once this crappy weather goes away, I'm gonna give em a dance! 3M bp definitely too small to use with them.

Supes, what pads did you end up going with?

I felt the sameway when i got my Kompressor pads .I didn't think they were 7" pads.I was able to use the white pad on my rotary on the vette very easy to controll .Were as the CCS orange pad was to hard to controll .Next they need to come out with 5.5" and even 4" spot

Cool, thanks for sharing your experience. Makes me look forward to trying them out even more! I think I remember reading one of your posts about AR convincing/encouraging you to finally use the rotary? So far, I've only felt comfortable using a 5.5" orange lo pro pad with my rotary and I was still having trouble hoppin & skippin. 6.5" PFW on the 3M bp made me a bit over-confident.

I think I'll be trying M105 on the black pad first since I've never used it. The only non-Menzerna polishes I've used are SystemOne X3 and MarkV Mystique on the 3401.

Rick finally got the W66 back in stock? He's been out for a while. I've been waiting to order that plate!

I'm gonna go with the Kompressors, but The Boss says I have to wait til Father's day to get em.

Yeah, I ordered one as soon as I saw he had them back in stock. Picked up some Last Touch too. Probably should have gotten some M34 as well. Dana was right...the W66 looks like the perfect BP for the Kompressors.

And OMG the gold LC foam is CRAZY soft.

If you don't listen to someone like Dana then your just going to waste your money and time. Also need to listen to Angelo ZoomZoom And Eric Blk45.

Has anyone used the the purple kompressor pad?? Or is the white the equivelant to an orange pad?

Purple is more aggressive than an orange and a white is less aggressive. They are working on an orange pad. The only color that doesn't line up with it's CCS counter part is purple. You could always use a PFW.

I wonder how much more heat the purple Kompressor generates over a regular 6.5" orange CCS pad. If it's a lot, and I'm using M105, I think I'd be in a world of hurt....my paint too. Knowing how stiff orange pads are, I think I'd opt for the 6.5" PFW or even a 5" or 6" Tufbuf lambswool pad instead. This is on the rotary, of course.

I'm a chicken... I refuse to do any heavy correction work with a foam pad. It's wool or nothin' for me.

For pads for the DA, it depends:

For foam pads: Meguiar's Soft Buff 2.0's pads for normal paint correction and polishing.

For a 3" backing plate on an air polisher, I use 3M polishing pads.

But for the Rotary buffer: Meguiar's Soft Buff 2.0 (cutting, polishing and finishing), Meg's W-5000 Wool, Solo light and heavy cut wool, 3M Wool and foam cutting and polishing pads, and SM Arnold 3" wool and foam pads.
