p21s vs s100

From all I've read, same product. Maybe very slight diff. in chemical makeup, but not enough to matter. I have used the S100 detail spray bought at a Harley shop , and it looks quite good.

I believe they have slightly different formulas but I have a hard time telling that the results are different-maybe a slight preference for P21S. Both work great however.

I am having trouble removing S100. Its just a pain in the arse, looks AMAZING but talk about a pain.

I've always heard if you let S100 or P21S dry they can be a pain to remove. However if you apply to a panel and remove quickly (30 seconds to a minute)- almost a wipe on wipe off product- it is very easy to apply and remove. I would apply another thin layer- which should "wet" the previous layer then remove quickly only doing a panel at a time. See if that helps! If not, a quick car wash or QD may help to remove the residue.

Yes a wipe on wipe off indeed.

I've used both and there is no difference in appearance. S100 is a little softer to spread and doesn't seem to hold as long as P21s. As for the price they must both be made by the same parent company because at twice the cost any other competitior would have reacted.

You can get S100 in a motorcyle shop.

Although nowadays with Carnaulab/synthetic blends lasting way longer, p21/s100 aren't really the optimum choice for daily drivers.

Thats what i do, still a pain.

I bought P21S before I knew that S100 was the same thing. Just ordered some S100 so if it works virtually the same, I'm going with S100 forever and ever.

You might want to run a search on this, as it has been discussed numerous times on the board.

But, to save you time, yes they are the same. Save the cash and get the S100.

If that's true then there is a difference. I've only use S100 so I can't compare the wax softness to P21S. Maybe they both have the same ingredients but at a different ratio..like more beeswax, less carnauba...that would make it softer. :nixweiss

Whatever the case, S100 looks outstanding and is so easy to use. :up

That may be true but it's never been conclusively proved and Brookside is a reputable vendor that claims they ARE different formulas.

DavidB once said in a thread they are the same. And, do vendors ever admit any two products are the same (with the only exception probably being Collinite), when most others know otherwise? Would it be a good idea from a sales standpoint (to P21S products) to admit they are the same? Do you always trust what you hear/read, particularly from a mfr?

Point being, both have been used and compared extensively on this and other forums and they are, for all intents and purposes, identical.

coupe - if you are having trouble removing S100 something is VERY wrong since it is one of the easiest products in the detailing universe to apply and remove. As with most any product apply it very thinly to one panel and remove immediately. Wipe on Wipe off. I have to believe you are either putting too much product on the paint or letting it sit too long.

I put it on very thin. I just have to buff the crap out of it to remove the smears. Ill go through 3-4 MF's when i wax my car with it.

Coupe,

Not sure if this is a factor, but just thought I'd chime in anyways. I noticed when I apply Natty's Blue or S100 (both easy to apply and remove) I've found that if I use a MF towel with a medium pile that it comes off much easier. When I first tired Natty's Blue, I used one of those low pile, tight weave MF towels without the edge binding and it wasn't very easy to remove the wax and it seemed to gum up the MF, start reapplying and get blue crap all over the place. I immediately thought about how I read on the forums how easy this stuff was to apply and thought BS!

I then tried Spray & Gloss to help with the removal and that helped a lot. Then by chance, I was spot claying an area next to a panel that I had just applied NB to (missed a small speck that I thought I could remove quickly and then buff NB off) and when I was wiping the QD lube off with a medium pile MF towel, the towel ran over a portion of the panel with NB on it and it came right off no problem.

The towels that I've found that are excellent for removal of NB and S100 are Pakshak Ultra and Ultra Smooth and Excel's Supremes. I now use the edgeless MF towels only for removing AIO or other polymer LSP and use medium pile MF for removing carnaubas. Just a thought.
