First, a little back ground leading up to this saga. I have been detailing my own cars for around 5-6 yrs. Last year I started a small detailing business w/one of my co-workers (firefighters full time).
Let me state I have removed some over spray in the past, from body shops, etc w/claybars.
So we get a call over the weekend from my partners wife's cousin (works for her dads steel structure co.). Three employees spray a steel structure last Friday 50ft away from a day care parking lot.
Around 20 cars end up w/what is believed to be a Tnemec primer series 10, Modified Alkyd. When I looked @ the cars w/over spray on them Monday morning in the rain and around 70's, you could wipe off the overspray quite bit w/your hand.
So three days later we setup a onsite tent, etc, etc. and plan to pressure wash and clay bar the cars. Now removing this primer is a whole different story, very stubborn, 1 clay bar is wrecked per car. Estimated time has increased quite a bit.
Removing the over spray from the paint isn't horrible but, the trim/gaps/seams/rubber/plastic is.
My question is what chemical (such as mineral spirits, xylol, thinner) can be put on a cars surface with affecting the paint or rubber, plastic.
Any pointers we be very helpful.
