This is my first post, The cars I am detailing are my moms bmw x3 and my dads mazda miata.

I am looking for a good product to condition the exterior trim ( it has alot) and a good detailing spray to use after I wash to bring out the shine in the wax. Looking for products I can get at advanced auto parts, walmart, ect.

I've used a meg's DC2/#26 combo before that turned out awesome.

as for trim, i really can't help you there. I've had nothing but problems the mothers back to black trim stuff.

the good ol' meguiar's quick detailer spray works alright. not great, but not bad.

I'll second that on the Back to Black products. Meguiar's #40 works decently for about a week depending on how many miles they drive but it wouldnt be my first choice. I personally use Sonus Tire and Bumper gel on my '02 Jetta for all the exterior plastics but it's not available locally.

The EO QD is a pretty good all 'round QD.

The TW Platinum is good for looks, but lacks in lubrication, so I think it should only be used after a proper wash, not on dusty cars. As long as you are using it only after washes, it's good, but it has its own look, so if you like the look of your wax, this may change it too much for your tastes.

Mothers Showtime smells like cinnamon. Great on glass, good as a follow up after washing (while car is still a bit wet.) Helps blend in cob webs a bit. Didn't seem to notice too much change in the appearance of the wax. Maybe a bit shinier.

Megs QD has a very nice "mist" sprayer. You don't get a spray from it. Rather it covers a wider area more evenly. Not a bunch of lubricity either, but more than the TW, I think. Also works after a wash without streaking too badly.

What wax are you using? If it's one that has a spray wax verison, you may want to look at that instead of the QD. This would help boost the protection as well.

As to the trim, well, good luck. I've had some that worked, some that didn't. Seems that it depends on application as much as product. Also, what worked for one often doesn't seem to work for another. (Maybe different cars/materials?) :nixweiss:

Turtle Wax Ultra Gloss detailer is probably my favorite OTC QD, adds good gloss and slickness. Meguiars and Mothers are not bad either. I found the TW QD on clearance at Traget and bought all they had for $2.99/bottle. probably wouldn't pay full price for it.

None of the OTC QD's are really a bargain compared to products like Quickshine or FK425 when you order by the gallon.

For QD I would go with Mother's showtime or Megs NXT.

On exterior trim plastic, I like Vinylex. On my bed cover and trim it last about a week and a half to two weeks depending on the amount of rain it sees.
