over spray paint on conv. top

Customer, the painter, made a mistake. Some of his over spray laid on brand new Ford Mustang GT conv top. I had tried 303 cleaner, TOP Deep clean and steam vapor machine. All failed.

Any suggestion.

I would certainly try a mild solvent, such as Prepsol or New Car Prep... Use a minimal amount of agitation to avoid disturbing the fabric. Extraction?

Bridgepoint.com offers a few items designed for paint removal from fafbric/carpet. I'd reach for P.I.G., followed by extraction.

Let us know how you progress.

Yea you're going to need a solvent BUT as Jim noted don't use anything rough in your agitation of the fabric as you can go from bad to worse real quick!!

After removing the overspray you'll most likely need to re-apply the conv. tops water repellant protection.

Lastly, I'm not sure I would apply the chemical directly to the tops fabric as this may create a ring so rather apply it to a terry towel first (make sure it's white) and then gently agitate. Always try it first in a hidden area first to see if there is any bad reaction.
