OTC Car wash/soap

Which OTC soap am I safe to use on my Zaino'd finish?



I have been using the Pink Meguiars, is this fine?
 
Any soap that doesn't contain any "extras" is safe for your Zaino. Avoid the ones that have special stuff in them like waxes or any of that so called 'synthetic technology'. You don't want to be adding mystery product to your Zaino finish that could impair future layer bonding. Stick with the normal car wash soap that says it is safe for wax and doesn't contain anything extra in it. I'm a big fan of Meguiar's Gold Class and Meguiar's NXT wash. Both of those are great foaming and lubricating washes that help in avoiding swirls while washing.
 
Meg's #00 is OTC and is a very gentle product. Meg's NXT is certainly another fine choice.

Isn't your statement a bit contradictory? You tell the guy to avoid anything with "synthetic technology" but then you recommend NXT wash. Everything NXT I've bought has always boasted on its product description about its synthetic technology.



In any case, NXT is decent and priced really well for an OTC soap. But like others have mentioned, if you can find a Carquest near you pick up some of the Duragloss car wash concentrate. NXT wash doesn't even come close. It's more expensive, but you won't want to go back to NXT after you've used the Duragloss soap.

According to everything on the label, NXT doesn't have anything in the wash that would imply that it puts down any synthetic protection. It may use certian technologies to help clean the surface, but it doesn't put anything on the surface that would impair bonding with anything else. I just checked on my bottle of NXT wash and it would appear to fit inline with what I said about not using products that put waxes or anything else on the surface.
 
Duragloss is available at carquest and NAPA autoparts stores. i also like the Meguiars NXT and Gold class washes for otc products.
 
As the others have said...



DG 901 is on par with some "boutique" car washes. Gold Class is another worthy nomination.



However, I have noticed a great difference between OTC shampoos and the boutique. I find PoorBoys SS&S leaves my paint slicker, and glossier looking than a GC wash.
