OT: Cleaning computer screens?

My PC goes to 7...
I'm wondering what everyone uses to clean their computer monitor screens? I've heard that some (maybe all?) monitors have a coating on the screen to reduce EMF emissions and glare, and that this coating can come off or get discolored from houshold cleaners. Is there any truth in this?
 
I use a damp MF towel with no cleaners to do all of my monitors and the plastic housing on them as well.

i checked that out...its weird right...the TOL site says the 19 oz size....and the can has like a reddiwhip type top.....the autosuper place doesnt list a size anywhere...and the can looks more like the invisiblr glass type of top...just a littlew different....maybe they're different sizes...:confused: or...i dont know...your right it doesnt make sense....

Man, that's sooo freaky -- the reason I was asking this is because there is a greasy smudge that is the haunting image of Elvis on my monitor! (That's the fat, bloated, 70's Elvis). I've tried using household cleaners on it, but it just won't go away...
 
The instruction book for the last monitor I bought (an Optiquest 19", a couple of years ago) stressed heavily that only water should be used to clean the screen, and to avoid all solvents including alcohol, as it could damage the anti-glare coating of the screen or weaken the plastic of the case itself. I was surprised when I read it; it's the first monitor I've owned that had such a warning.



I use a damp MF towel on mine, and that seems to cut through just about anything on the screen.

okay guys what gets on your computer screens that it needs soo much cleaning; too many lonely nights in front of the puter? hehe.



I use an MT too, not damp, unless needed.
 
After Tort's comments perhaps it would be best to check the monitor's owners manual about special antiglare coatings etc. On a plain glass screen the Brillianize will work great. I use it for my bikes mostly on the instruments, windsreens and mirrors. I've been using it for a few years on monitors because it leaves it cleaner looking than a glass cleaner leaves the surface and it also is an anti-static coating that will help to prevent dust from settling on the screen.



It is also commonly used on the glass of copier machines and big screen TVs

The AutoSuperMart size is the same, SprayWay only comes in one size (awesome cleaner by the way..). It's a slimly practice to discount on some products, but ripoff on others in my opinion. Hence the reason I REFUSE to do business with them.
