Organizing Your Products

Glen, seeing your detailing bottles in that wine rack made me laugh so hard!

I have to say I REALLY was not terribly happy to see this thread. All my supplies are in storage bins in my basement right now and I dread having to bring everything up to the garage to organize it. During the fall/winter I would say I roughly doubled my detailing collection. Before I only had one gallon size bottle and now I have seven just to give you an idea of what's going on with my collection. I'm not sure where I'm going to put everything and still keep it organized. It's DEFINITELY going to take some time.

Just a suggestion about labeling bottles . . . I have a lot of generic bottles that I fill with various products. Lowe's only sells about 3 colors of bottle so color coding is a no go. So, to prevent from using the wrong bottle I make my own labels. I went to Staples and got some large mailing labels. I pirated some company logos from the internet and made my own (very professional looking IMO) labels for each bottle showing brand logo, product name, and dilution ratio where necessary. The print is very large making each bottle easy to read. Then I put a couple of pieces of clear packing tape over the label to keep moisture out.

Also, I try to group similar products on the same shelf. Then I always make sure to put anything I pick up back in the exact same place.

Do they have sqeeze bottles? Or are you just talking about spray bottles?

I've only been able to find spray bottles at Lowe's. For squeeze bottles I buy the 8 oz. crayon bottles from Poorboy's. They were about $0.93 a piece if you buy ten.

Thanks! I only laugh at your wine racks, because I was thinking how much more expensive my detailing products are compared to the wine I buy. So, maybe my detailing products deserve to be in the wine rack more than the wine. :lmfao

Are those foam pads the new Edge 2K pads where you can have a different type of foam on each side? Also are those smaller pads 4"?

Yes, they are Edge pads. I've had them for a while now and I got them from another member here, so I don't know how new they are. And yes, the smaller pads are 4".

I'm not as anal as some of you when it comes to organizing my stuff. I got to much stuff to try and keep it perfect. I'm always mixing stuff, filling up bottles, loading and unloading so i'm not to worried about keeping it organized.

As you'll see in the pics i'm uploading I got 1 gallon and smaller jugs on one shelf along with some other stuff, 5 gallon pails on another, And all my spray bottles, dyes, and such either in my tool box thats on my trailer or on in a cabinet.

Uh oh, I hate threads like this because it always inspires me to go re-organize my stuff, even when it's already organized! I'm always reorganizing things to make them easier to find or look nicer. Luckily I keep almost all my supplies in my trailer, so once I know where everything goes (I should since I put it there!) I just get into the habit of where everything is so I almost don't have to look when I reach for something. Sorry I don't have cool pictures like the rest of you guys though, my computer is practically a paperweight with a screen.

That bottom pic looks like a meth lab of sorts....not that I know anything about those.

I am really impressed with some of you guys and your racks and work areas....I'll have to shoot a few of mine this weekend...I really started this thread to make fun of myself and how I can never find what I'm looking for....anywho care on!
