Ordering Optimum Hyper Cut and Polish tomorrow

I haven't been doing much serious defect removal since I've never had a compound I've liked, so I thought I'd give Hyper Cut a try. The main reason why is because my only compounds (Presta Ultra Cutting Creme and CC Light) produce WAY too much dusting and gunk up too fast while polishing. However, their 1500 polish and swirl remover are awesome.
Does Hyper Cut really do what it says, remove moderate-sever defects with very little to NO dust? Dust really is my main concern, besides wanting to try some new products.
It also looks as if Optimum polish does the same thing as Hyper Cut, but only it's a tad less abrasive? Is it worth buying both, or should I look into another polish?

I'm also ordering both new Green and Yellow Edge pads, I've only got a couple details left on my others. I'm throwing in some Natty's Blue too. My brother-in-laws Jetta (black) needs some major TLC, I figure it will be a great test vehicle fo Hyper Cut and Natty's Blue
 
They both work with very very limited dusting. You will love both. The opt polish can do super fine finishing up to medium swirls depending on the pad used, and the hyper will do up quite a bit of cut. I think the hyper has its limits but it will definatly do 90% of the stuff we see. Its only when you have an extremely trashed vehicle when the hyper falls short.

Sweet, like I said dust is my main concern, and I've seen a lot of positive feedback about Optimum's polish line up when used with a rotary. The Jetta has some deep scratches, but I've lveled out scratches worse than most of the ones on the car, so no worries. I can always use my Cutting Creme where the Hyper Cut "falls short". It's like liquid sandpaper, extremely abrasive and thick.
Now you say the Opt. Polish can be used for fine finishing to medium swirls...Depending on the pad, right? For instance, could I polish out a panel with say the green polishing pad, then follow up with the blue pad to remove (if any) swirls?
I can't wait to place the order, then I've got to wait like 5-7 agonizing days until it all gets here :wall
 
what cut levels are those colors?

Finishing with OP- finishing pad

with a rotary run @1200 rpm

you can even push the cutting a little high if you use a wool pad..

I couldn't find my hyper so i didn't use that..
 
Edge pads:

Black: Heavy Cut

Yellow: Cutting

Green: Medium Cut

Orange: Light cut

Blue: Finish

White: Ultrafine

I'd assume the Orange or green pads would do a good job cutting, and a second step with the blue pad would eliminate swirls? I use the Presta Swirl Remover all the time with the blue pad and have nevr seen a swirl, so hopefully the Opt. will do the same

I just place an order with AG and got all 3 Opt polishes/compounds, along with edge pads for my PC and the Rotary i just ordered.
 
I find this conversation interesting because I've spent months trying out different Lake country variable contact pads with Optimum Polish/compound and Menzerna IP. Machines for application are :makita Hi speed polisher and Griot Orbital polisher. My results: white polishing pad on orbital polisher for paint defect correction is waste of precious time. Orange pad does just a little better on orbital polisher for paint defects removal while yellow is the ultimate for removing fine scratches and medium swirls. Yellow pad on griot orbital polisher with optimum polish/compound 50/50 blend, light pressure, speed at 5, removed defects with fewer passes- meaning less time polishing to correct defects. The surface is left smooth, no haze ready for finessing with Optimum polish or Finall polish on black pad. It's important to use less polish for quick result. On makita result is amazingly qiucker without haze, buffer marks or hologram, makita speed was set at 1200RPM to achieve great results. My observation: it is more time efficient to do paint defect correction with Hi speed polisher on LC yellow VC pad than on PC. For non professional detailer PC will be OK, for Pro who cant afford to spend too much time polishing one car Hi speed is the way to go to correct paint defects. If you polish on yellow pad using Optimum Polish at 1200RPM you are absolutely Ok that you will be able to remove medium scratches and swirls without haze or dust the finish is smooth ready for finessing with white/black foam pads using optimum polish or menzerna final polish with PC. In my humble opinion PC is good for general polishing with mild gloss enhancing polish to improve gloss and remove wax and minor contaminants before applying sealant or fresh wax. Hi speed polisher should only be used to efficiently remove paint defects such as swirls and scratches at low speed 1200-1500RPM. If a polish/compound cannot efficiently cut between 1200-1500RPM on clear coats please dont use such products. It's better to polish at this speed with two or three passes on HI-Speed polisher than remove two much paint and induce a lot of marrings that will require further removal of paint to correct. Too much speed on Hi speed polisher regardless of product you use does not do any good, because the integrity of the paint is slowly being compromised. It's quicker by far to remove defects with yellow cutting pad on Hi-Speed polisher and OPT polish/compound blend than on orange and white foam pads. White foam pad is good for final polishing and finessing on PC with a mild polish such as Menzerna final polish or Optimum polish.

I've liked the yellow Edge pad since the first time I used it, it cuts out scratches in no time and has held up great. The green pad is my go-to pad, I'm suprised I've gotten as much out of it as I have. Have you tried using Opt. Polish as a final polish? I really like the results my Presta Swirl Remover gives, but I'm starting to run low on it, maybe Opt. Polish will take its place
 
optimum polish is as good as menzerna final polish when used with white polishing pad to prepare the surface for wax or sealant. I like optimum polish because of longer work time especially on rotary polisher. Don't use optimum polish on PC it's not very effective what I do is mix the polish with the compound 50/50 on yellow pad to achieve quicker results. Again dont use too much polish as soon as your pad primes with the polish. The shine is show room class.
