Ordered this kit for my mom's new black lexus. Hope to get it looking really good.
These are the steps I will do.
1) Wash
2) Clay (Is this necessary on 1 week old car from dealer?)
3) Klasse AIO
4) Klasse SG (VERY THIN)
5) Klasse SG again 24 hours later???
6) Souveran Paste Wax
Is this right? No reason to layer the AIO from what I understand. Is two layers of SG necessary or recommended?
Also...can "Pinnacle Crystal Mist Detail Spray" be used to clean up light spots (waterspots, dirt, etc) in between washing or will this "seal" them in or not what its suppose to be used for??? Should I order Sonus Acrylic Spritz instead?
I thank everyone so much for this great forum and will promise to post pictures if I can get this done
Clay - Yes clay it you will be surprised at what comes out on the clay from a brand new car.
AIO - You dont reallly need layers or this but you can do a 2nd application - The cleaners in the AIO will essentially remove the protection from the previous application.
KSG - search the forum for how people are layering KSG and the wait time. I personally like 24 hours between all products where I wash the car again and apply another layer. But 2 layers are good to make sure you have even coverage.
For very light dust QD sprays are fine. You may end up wanting something like poorboys spray and wipe or ONR even if you are having to deal with more than light accumulation or dust. You wouldn't want to risk using something that isnt lubricated enough and end up marring the paint
If you have never used SG before then make sure you put it on very thin or taking it off will be a chore Thin for SG is so thin that you don't think your putting any on at all then remove and layer another coat or 2 in the next few days .For sure clay the car first like said above. Souveran is nice on black but it dosen't last all that long.
I had good success using applicators slightly dampened with water - squeeze ALL excess water out of the pad so that it's just damp, not wet. I used distilled water, but that's probably overkill.
Given that I don't know the composition of Pinnacle Crystal Mist, I can't recommend that you use it to moisten the pad. Water will work perfectly, so you're safer with that. Technically speaking, you'd normally use an application sponge with a slight cut for AIO so as to augment its solvent with some mechanical removal. My Klasse kit came with a nifty red, yellow, and black brick shaped German foam. One face was coarse, and the other fine. I guess that you can get away with a microfiber pad if the surface is thought to be clean. If the car's new, this may or may not be the case depending on how long it had to travel. For the SG, I definitely recommend a microfiber pad. And apply it thin, as if you haven't already been told that enough already!
I just noticed the hot link for Crystal Mist - "carnauba, oils,..." Based on that, I'll change my recommendation to say that you shouldn't use that as a pad lubricant for Klasse application, as I expect that it'll really degrade adhesion of the acrylic. I'd put off using that, or the wax, until you're absolutely certain that you don't want to apply any more layers of SG.
