Orange 5" CCS Pad Tearing After First Use

I would include a picture but the camera has decided it doesn't want to save pictures in its memory any more.:down

Anyways, I polished my entire car using the 5" orange CCS pad using Optimum Compound with my UDM at speed 6. I discovered my paint is VERY hard because that pad/polish combo was only improving the swirl marks, not eliminating them. When I was about 85% done I noticed the pad was beginning to tear. I was able to finish my car with the pad but will not be able to use it again. Because of how hard the paint was, I was applying a pretty good amount of pressure on the pad for more cut and really giving it plenty of time to work itself in. Could putting this much pressure on the pad with the UDM at speed six tear even a good pad? The UDM never bogged down so it is not like I was applying crazy pressure.

Even though I still have some swirl marks, the paint still looks better than when I bought it six years ago off lease, and all I have done (polish wise) is compound with OC. It should look even better when I use Poli-Seal tomorrow night. To completely get rid of the swirl marks, next time I will step up to Hyper Compound on an orange pad. Or I wonder if I should go Hyper Compound on a yellow pad??? I have plenty of time to ponder that.

hmmm.. i've used mine a few times now and they show slight wear on the edges, but are otherwise fine. Of course I clean them thoroughly after each use

Mine has torn up a little too. Wonder if it is a defect on the orange foam?

I assumed mine tore due the amount of pressure I was needing to apply to paint that was harder than I expected and I wondered if I was working the polish in too long and let the pad start getting dry resulting in more friction. Since you guys are experiencing the same issue, maybe it wasn't me?? I still have some marring left over. Next spring I will try a yellow pad and see what happens.
