Optimum vs Menz

In my case, some of the holograms appeared to be from aggressive work and some were so light that I figure they came from the last rotary step, which was 106FF/white. (It was then PCed with more 106FF.)

What pad did you use for the last PC step?

FWIW I like 106 but still prefer FPII. I've used alot more FPII in comparison so perhaps I'm just more used to it but it seems to be easier to use with both rotary and DA.

I didn't do the 106FF work in question (never used the stuff), but IIRC he used LC white with both the rotary and the PC.

The FPII wouldn't have had the cut required in this case. I had to do quite a bit of work with 1Z High Gloss, and even some work with 1Z Pasta Intensiv to get these previously concealed holograms out. In one area it took the 1Z Pasta Instensiv on orange 4" pads, and I was leaning on it pretty well too. Mighty severe for something that you *absolutely* couldn't see for months!

FWIW I did my final work on the vehicle with the Cyclo/green/1Z HG followed by 1Z WaxPolishSoft/white. Sure left things a lot nicer than the 106FF, no comparison IMO.

Accumulator, I notice 106FF (I'm using the Blackfire version, same thing) and it's crazy filling now, too. About 2 months ago, I detailed a bright red BMW with HT EC on an orange, 106 on white, IPA wipe, then Poli-Seal on white, topped with 476s (all via PC besides Collinite). After the IPA, it looked phenominal, hardly any micro marring and very glossy. It looked even better after Poli-Seal.

Now, 2 months and 2 washes later (only by me) I am starting to see some of the micro-marring from the HT EC come back, as well as some general marring that was still there after HT EC but gone after 106. It doesn't look like it was induced by my washing, either.

I always thought that the whole 106/fillers thing was due to people's lack of experience/whatever with the product, because an IPA wipe didn't seem to reveal anything for me, but it really is wierd how it just sorta shows up, months down the line. And the 476s I applied is doing fine, I would have thought it would have locked in the fillers or whatever. :nixweiss

Just my little $0.02/rant.

I think I'll take your word and buy some 1Z High Gloss.
