Optimum QEW

Ok, I've seen several discussions throughout the internet talking about Optimum's new QEW. Does anyone have a release date for it? I know Scottwax has used it and likes it better than Protect All's QEW. I've seen some others saying the same thing. My problem is that if the Optimum is better and not much more expensive, I'd just as soon buy it. I had planned on getting QEW for the upcoming winter months, but I'd really like to get Optimum's instead. So.....anyone know? Anyone at all?

I talked to David the other day...can't remember exactly what he said, but I think it's coming out very soon. I'm pretty curious about it as well.

Curious as well. Glad I only bought a 16oz. bottle of QEW yesterday! Would have been pretty upset if I bought the gallon and read there was something better! I'll use all of my QEW before the end of the year.

Optimum's No-rinse Wash should be out sometime this month. I think David is working on the labels but the formula seems ready to go. It cleans as well as QEW but leaves the paint slicker, sort of like how QEW works when you add QD to it. Prices will be competitive.

The Optimum QEW is actually a 3-1 product. Scott likes it as the QEW waterless wash and Ron and myself have been using it as a QD.

We have found that it mixes best at 6 ounces to one gallon water, best to use distilled water. At this ratio it makes a great QD. I will be trying it at an 8 to 1 ratio this week but I think that that may be overkill.

At 4 to 1 it makes a great clay lube and you can also add a drop of car soap in. I was paying over $30 a gallon for another QD but now one gallon of Opt QEW will mix up about 30 gallons of QD.

I have also added it to my Opt car shampoo and man does it give me a really lubricated wash, the cars blow water off with even greater ease and after final drying I am left with a nice slick paint. Very versatile product.

I am trying it out in another form also but I will only comment on that if my idea works out good :scared:

hmm, 6 ounces per gallon? That's quite a bit more than is required for QEW. Hopefully the price to size ratio of this product will be better than QEW since more will be needed per gallon.

No, the 6 ounces per gallon is for a QD. I am not sure of the ratio for using as a waterless wash, as Scott uses it.

The ratio for washing cars is one ounce per gallon of water. I have found no real advantage to mixing in any more. Cleans very well at that ratio.

I haven't used it yet as a QD but since at the one ounce per gallon ratio, using it as a wash does make the paint noticably slicker, I imagine the higher concentration for QDs would be better.

Hmmm, sounds like sample time. Boy I gotta get Christmas presents soon and I can't stop buying detailing supplies :)

LOL, damn Autopia. I wish my whole family was as into detailing as me because then I could buy them waxes and stuff. lol That would be great!

I'm with you there. Boy I can just see my mom's face when she un-wraps her gift of polishes and waxes (hehe)

For those of you that were interested, I received an email from David today. He says that the Optimum QEW will be availabe the second half of December. I might have to buy some Protect-All QEW to tide me over til then!

Thanks for the info. I have just enough QEW to last until the end of the year so that works out great!

Wow, so he/Optimum does answer e-mails then. I've sent two e-mails so far to the e mail address listed on the website asking for more information and pricing of those Optimum pads. Nothing yet. :nixweiss

That's strange, Bill. I sent that email on the 10th, so it only took a few days to get back to me. PM incoming, Bill.

FWIW, the official name of the product (as of right now) will be Optimum Equal Wash and the solution will probably be green. David wants to emphasize the enviromental friendly aspect of the product.
