Optimum polish

Let me ask you guys, what do you think the limits are of Optimum polish? What I mean by that is, they only offer one polish vs. two or three that most other companies offer. Does this polish leave a LSP ready finish? How heavy can the oxidation/defects be before you need a more aggressive polish? I'm just curious.

Also, I know Optimum is coming out with their new compound for severe defects, but I'm still wondering how much you can knock out with just this one product.

Good question, and I didn't see a direct reply.

I have the SSR lineup and I am getting low on a couple of them. This product sounds like it could replace 3 of them, which almost sounds to good to be true.

Does this product work more like AIO with chemical cleaning, or more with abrasives like the SSR line?

Rob--The Optimum polish is a true polish with diminishing abrasives and is not a chemical cleaner. I believe the Big O could pretty easily replace the 3 PB SSRs as it allows you to determine the cut with just your pad selection.

I used Optimum and an Orange LC pad with a PC on Speed 6 today on my folk's BMW.

I applied with overlapping pressure for a minute, eased up a bit for a minute and then allowed to burnish the surface with the weight of the PC and I was still left with random marring and the paint wasn't bad at all.

However, the surface was super slick and wet looking.

I don't know what I was doing wrong. I used it like every other polish.

You can see some of my work with Optimum Polish in this thread .

I have the Hi-Temp's line from light to heavy cut and with 32 oz bottles I just brought a few months ago was not looking for something else.

Having said that I'm glad I tried it and will use it as a primary polish when a light or medium is called for.

I won't go into comparing depth of shine or panel appearance because I'm sure there are other products that can deliver the same quality.

What makes OCP shine IMHO is it's workability, low/no dusting, and the ability to go from defect removal to finishing with not only one product, but possibly one pad depending on the severity of the marring. This in addition to a finish that looks like you've applied the LSP already.

It's a Medium cut polish on the top end and a light cut polish on the bottom. Whatever you normally would use in those instances it can replace.

But they make Heavy cut levelers/polishes/compounds for a reason. I have just gotten my sample of the Compound and am looking for a test panel now.

Lastly, as others have said most of us have shelves full of stuff we either tried and did not like or found something better. I myself am more interested in the process than just finishing a panel.

I'm not saying throw your money away, but if you happy with what you got then Y worry about it?

Thanks.

I will probably give this product a try. Can it be purchased from any other supplier other than from the Optimum website?

Sure check with your favorite vendor, I know Top Of The Line sells it. Why not email David at Optimum and ask if he can hook you up with a sample of the wax/compound/polish (or buy one and ask for a sample of the other two)

That would be awesome if they could hook us up with samples. I would love to try it, but with all of my other great polishes I have I just cant really commit to another one (unless of course, it is really worth buying!).

I can't wait to try this stuff out...my order arrives tomorrow :)

My only question is if I want to top it with #16 or Acrylic Jett. The neighbors are going to be shaking their fists at the whir of the PC :sosad

premiumautocare.com sells it too, and I think autogeek.net and CMA sell it.

Excellent, as they are my vendor of choice. This way I can order all my stuff from one place and avoid extra s&h charges.

I posted this already but since this is a thread already about Optimum I figured I would post it here as well (should of done it here first anyway), please excuse me for the thread jacking.

I'll be at the GM Arlington testing facility demonstrating Optimum Car Polish to the head honchos there and when I am finished I am going to visit a few detailers there and also the Porsche Ruff center so if anyone is interested in having the Optimum Detailing products demonstrated to them while I am out there please contact me and I'll see if we can't schedule a meeting in.

Take care,

Anthony
