Optimum Polish / Compound Discussion.

The only way I can get decent cut from OC (old OHC) is to use a wool pad with a rotary. My experience is that OC leaves a film behind and you need more than IPA to remove it.

I have been using optimum (Polish and Compound) a little here and there. I am an inexperienced user. my question is what is the point of the LONG work time? how can you tell it is worked in all the way and not too much. and what is the average time I should work it? I may have follow up questions.

thanks

p.s. I also have Four Star HCC that I got recently from Danase and man that has some bite, but as mentioned I never had the Opt HC to compare.

I have the same experience. I am more worried by the thick film left behind. I have the older version also and have not found any need to buy the newer one since I have tons of correction polishes.

Usually when a correction compound/polish leaves a finish with depth like OC it means there is some type of film left behind. How long it lasts? Will it interfere with longevity of LSP?

Would I trust it on a $500 prep job? NO too risky. I look for clean and clear with tons of clarity with nothing left behind. I choose which lsp in what I am looking to give depth, even more clarity, gloss, radiant glow, etc...

Any professionals have any insight on this?
