ColorX is a cleaner, with a little protection added. It will not give any kind of correction, except possibly filling some light swirls. It is a very nice product to use, very easy on and off, and it leaves a great base for a wax or sealant.
Have not tried poly seal yet, but hope to in the spring.
Great thread. I was just about to post the same topic. I would like to hear comparisons on the 2 also. I have never used PS, but I have used ColorX so i am trying to decide if the PS is really worth the extra money to purchase it also. I know it have been said over on MOL that ColorX does have abrasives in it to correct light marring and will leave a synthetic polymer protectant on the paint. It also can be used with a rotary, PC or by hand. While it does do a great job on neglected oxidized paint, I am still playing with it to see what type of marring it will correct. Would like to hear from people that have used both to see if the cut with PS is any better then ColorX to make it worth the extra cost to purchase.
IMHO ColorX has great cleaning ablities, so so swirl removal, ok shine (but did bring out some the the metal flake in my 350z)..and very adequate protection..never used OPS
From what I've seen of Poli Seal, I would agree with that. I havent had it long enough to know anything about durability. I've got it on two cars, going on three weeks now. They definitely look different. On my black car Color X looked kinda bright for my taste and Poli Seal darkens the paint.
tdekany & waytosslow, can you tell use the difference in cut and swirl removal? Does PS really have much better swirl removal? How do they compare in this category? If I can find a one step that has good correction ability that would save me a ton of time, but if it does not have much of a difference in what can be corrected with it, the PS might not be worth the extra cost. The correction is the most important to me in a one step because I tend to use spray waxes also so the protection part is cover with that. thanks
Can anyone explain why the PS is in "another class" compared to ColorX other then its price. Is the cut or swirl removal that much better with PS? I already have ColorX, but if I am going to get better correction ability with PS then the extra cost will be worth it because it will be a more useful one-step product. thanks
I've used PS and the cutting and correcting capability based on only one experience isn't that great. I would say it's more of a product you would use after compound/polish to top it off. From what I notice though it does really make the color darker and richer with the PS.
I've never tried ColorX so I can't really do a compare/contrast for you, but this is all I can provide with the PS.
