Optimum Opti-Mitt mini-review

I purchased the Opti-Mitt when it first came out and had to return it, My problem with it is that the hand opening is way too small ( I do have large hands, but not that big) and it began to rip around the seams after one use and its a bit pricy....so if you have small hands and the seams stay together then you will be happy with it....as for me I have several other Mitts and sponges that i will continue to use.

I never take my MF straight from bucket to car without a squeeze and do the same thing with the mitt. That pretty much solves the runoff problem for me. Optimum has heard you guys though and the opening will be larger with the next batch. Thanks for the honest reviews that help to make better products.

Another note on the Opti-Mitt.
If your hand is to large for the Mitt, there is a string that you can loop through the hole in the center of the mitt. Once you loop the string through. you can slide your finger through the loop, and don't have to worry about dropping it, or getting your hand into the opening.

I also squeeze the mitt, before I take it out of the wash bucket.

Be careful pulling that string thru. It can start the yellow foam ripping.

I actually was letting all the water run off before moving it away from the bucket. But as soon as movement happened, more water would pour out. And if I was working on a panel and applied any pressure at all, water was pouring out as well.

It's also kind of hard to squeeze out since one of your hands is actually inside of it! I ended up taking my free hand and squeezing around the edges and then pressing on the center to get excess water out. But then, it felt like it was too dry, and wasn't wet enough.

I don't have these problems with MF towels. I give them a light squeeze to prevent dripping, and then once I'm wiping down a panel, they don't suddenly release lot's of fluids.

I'll play around with it some more in the summer, where excess water on the driveway isn't a problem.

If you have better results from MF then stick with it. After all, the best tool in the world isn't any good if you don't feel comfortable using it. Optimum has always recommended a MF towel as the media of choice for ONR prior to the OptiMitt. I know what you mean about it feel dry but I promise it's not and it will do fine so give it another go. I use an Opti Mitt on both hands. I dip them both press them against each other to rid the excess and make a pass with each mitt on each panel before returning to rinse.
