I'm still really happy with this product and performance of Optimums Consumer (non Pro) Glass Coat product.

This One:

Optimum Opti-Glass Coating


It is by far the most durable glass coating I have used. I have used G1/G2, Aquapel, rainX and permanon glass.

Of the others, aquapel would be my 2nd choice but I'm sticking with Optimum. This glass coating you see in the video has 40K on it as well as the 20 Months

Recently picked up a new bottle to top up the other cars before the winter.

Just so no one gets confused between Optimum Gloss-Coat, you ARE talking about Opti-Glass, the consumer version (vs. Opti-Glass Pro)?

wow, still has decent hydrophobic properties after all that time. I give it a :bigups .

I cannot say enough about this product.

Its just amazing all the improvements we have seen in coatings for auto's in the last few years. Excited to see what the next big thing it.

I cannot wait for the first spray on hose off all in one polish and coating.

Wow 20 months from a single application is great! And with 40k miles, it's great to see this durability with real world use instead of controlled laboratory conditions.

Can you imagine!? I guess it wouldn't be too crazy considering it wasn't too long ago that if you told someone you'll be able to carry a computer in your pocket they'd give you a funny look.

Ray, aren't you too young to be saying that? You know that email that goes around at graduation time about "this year's college grads are too young to remember..." Anyway, great perspective on your part.

LOL I'm starting to feel old! A couple of days ago our internet here was running so slow I told a coworker that I'm surprised we don't hear a dial-up sound in the background and he had no idea what I was talking about! He had never heard that sound before.



I don't miss getting kicked off the internet after watching an image slowly load because someone picked up the phone. :rofl

I do not miss that sound. Not at all.

More on topic... I think I just found the glass coating for me to try.
 
My prep is clean glass with invisible glass. Polish with Gtechnig glass polish and an über polish pad. Wipe off do an ipa wipe down. Let that flash off and apply OC glass. Let sit about 2 min on the clock buff off. Then repeat the OC application glass again and buff off with a clean me towel. I apply with a make-up pad. I keep dry overnight even though they say an hour or so is sufficient.

Been working for me awesome.

Ah, OK. How user-friendly is the Gtechnig Glass Polish? If/when I try something else I have to get the RainX off (applied by previous owner, I've just been redoing it) and I do *NOT* want to make a big mess of it;some Glass Polishes sound impossible to use without that happening.
 
I am pretty sure that M105 or 205 wold work just as well. It removes any crap on surface. Will not take away any scratches and has zero acids. It pretty benign stuff if you ask me.

The "Driver" and I got together to do his windshield at my home earlier this month. He used it and its not to aggressive. if you don't have it don't buy it. Use something like M205 I guess.

OK, yeah, I've always done OK using "paint compounds/polishes" on glass and I'd figured I could just use a regular Finishing Polish (M205 or HD Polish) but wondered how that stuff worked for you. Abrasives made just for glass seem to be more common these days...
 
that is great to hear. I may have to give this a try once I run out of my other glass coating..
I'm on my second bottle of Optimum Opti-Glass Clean & Protect and I really love that stuff as a every other wash booster for the windshield-even though I use it daily
 
The Gtechnig polish is pretty mild. I buy too much stuff just to try it. It's a hobby. Blew out my shoulder playing hardball. So for now this is what I am into. That and photography. Have not picked up my camera much lately

This Gtechnig glass polish is more runny than m205 and it cleans well but won't remove scratches. It is definitely not in the Ceri glass category. More like m205.

I should try that, I've just planned on polishing off and re applying when needed.

The 2 oz bottle did 6 cars and is still 1/2 full. Maybe more. It's an expensive bottle but it works and lasts. Cost per use is cheap.

If you charged 39.99 to polish and coat the windshield as an add on you would have a happy customer and make plenty of money adding that to a detail. Customer would be happy for about 2 years. Sell it as 15 bucks per year. I'd say you could get 12-14 applications out of 2 oz. the Wohole thing adds 10 minutes total to a detail.
