optimum no rinse who has used it

and only one wash mit/sponge usually?

You probably could if you use proper technique; top down washing and the 2 bucket method but I like to use a few different things. A chenille pad for the paint, a seperate one for the lower panels, a soft sponge for the wheels and an older mit for the wheel wells. I also use seperate cotton cloths for the exhaust and the tires. 1 24x24 MF, either regular or WW to dry and I wring it out. Been doing QEW and now ONR for almost 5 years as my primary wash. The only reason I need/want a hose is for the undercarriage, really dirty wheel wells and the inside of the wheels but even if I had one, I'd still wash the paint with ONR.

great info E, how often do you wring the mf drying towel? you use the sponge/mit rinse bucket for this task also?

I still don't believe how this stuff works, yes it might ecapsulate and clean off grim, but any sand or grit will definitely marr or scratch the paint, sand or silicate is as hard as glass and I don't see how it can disolve it for a safe wash. What cdoes the chemistry do to your LSP is another question also without having to rewax everytime ? I know its some sort of polymer that denses the water.

It works, it lifts the dirt from the surface, then the towel picks up the dirt. It works great :hairpull

Here is some techinical information about QEW, which works the way ONR does-although QEW doesn't leave the paint as slick as ONR.

The answers are from a Champion (the manufacturer of the product) representative:

Where does the dirt go?

The best answer I can give you is "into the towel or wash mitt and then into the bucket." The agents in Quick & Easy Wash are a blend of Surfactants, surface active agents in lay persons terms. These agents are already in use, and have been, in traditional car washing products used in both, hand wash and line wash systems. So the science is not new or unique, just the application. What sets our product apart from the crowd is mostly the lack of SUDS, amongst other and various and sundry other subtleties.

Suds are an unnecessary byproduct of soap. When Quick & Easy Wash is used in the washing process the suds are eliminated and the surfactants do the work. Part of the work they do is to envelope or suffocate the surface. Two things happen, the electrostatic or chemical bond between the dirt solids and or hydrocarbon solids (this covers most of the soils found on cars) is broken. Next, these soils are enveloped or wrapped and trapped into the surfactant and then into the washing media such as a towel or wash mitt. At rinse time, the towel is plunged into either a clean bucket of water ( using the two bucket method ) or back into the Quick & Easy Wash. In either case the same is true, the dirt solids succumb to the rinsing motion and use gravity to fall out of the washing media and fall to the bottom of the bucket. You can see this if you look into your bucket after doing a wash job.

How come it doesn't scratch?

In order to address potential scratching, the product contains a element that crosses the lines between polymers, lubricants, and waxes. It is true that if you bear down on a wet cloth over a dirty surface you will get scratches. However, our products make up will help to minimize the occurrence. So don't press down hard, with any washing product. Let's face it, scratching can occur even on a totally clean surface with a poor selection of washing media. Chose and dedicate washing cloths or mitts to a specific task and use them for nothing else. My current best pick for washing media is material called Microfiber, it is easy to find and we are working presently with an importer/manufacturer to bring it to our line of products, but that's another topic for another time.

No specific time smak. If it gets too water logged, I just wring it out. It depends on the MF I guess, some hold more water. I like the MF to be just a little damp for the final wipe after washing the panel. I use rinse buckets as well but I think Scottwax has amazing results with just one bucket if I recall his response to a recent thread correctly. See his above post regarding ONR technical info. Great stuff!

cool thanks. I just ordered some, haha. Hope it works good! I'll be using it when I go back to college.

I love ONR. It's easy to use and does a great job. I went with it because of water restrictions, but I think when they do lift I will stay with it. It also makes a great QD!

ScottWax, can you send me a PM with the info on the local distributor. I would really like to get more of the Optimum products and it would be nice without the shipping.

Thanks,

Brian

Thanks tustah! :getdown

I wish there was a distributor in Houston. I come to Dallas maybe once a month and my next trip won't be until August.

Geez Scott, those are some decent prices. I just ordered a gallon of ONR on Friday for $35 and other places were $40.

Can someone tell me what I will need to wash my car with ONR?

I plan to buy a small bottle of this stuff. What towels or sponges do I need and how many of each? Where should I buy the towels/sponges? Does brand matter?

What else will I need to wash my car with ONR?

Thanks
