Optimum Hyper Compound

dr. david just informed me that autogeek has the new hyper compound for sale...and i followed up by placing an order for a bottle :D hopefully i can try it out on my buddy's Audi TT before x-mas.

Sounds like something I can use in my detail at the moment, but it wil be just too late to get and use, even though it would arrive next day. I need to get the detail done. But, for another make over, sounds like an extremely interesting product.

Sounds very aggressive.

Then again, OCC isn't really compound-level when I used it with my DA. Finished up really nice.

I'm interested to see how well it works with a DA.

After reading description I am not seeing anything to change me from Power Gloss. Maybe someone with both can give a comparison.

according to david..."Optimum Hyper Compound can be used with any machine or pad. With rotary it would give the most cut while with Cyclo or Porter Cable it will be less aggressive."

i'm just hoping it will break down fully with my cyclo. the longer working time and lower dusting is what i'm attracted to.

i'm sure anthony and ron will have more insight on this since they seem to do a bunch of beta testing for david.

It sounds like it might require double the amount of time to break down via Cyclo as opposed to a rotary. I can see using this type of product without the hassle of hard to remove splatter and without concern if it was broken down enough in jobs where compounding is a must first.

Interesting, but rotary only.

Decisions, decisions....rotary or cyclo next? :getdown

Rumors that Cyclo is doing away with fixed pricing.....You may want to wait till first of the year.

Cyclo/Prime ....Very Cool :spot

any ideas on what his recommended speed was for the Hyper Compound on a rotary ?

As thanks to Sean Busch, I'm using the current Optimum Compound at speed 1200 rpm.

Don't get me wrong, I love OP and OC and will probably be trying some of this. BUT, IMO the Meguiars 80 series *when working with the rotary* owns the optimum polishes. I can produce faster results with the same level of performance with the Meguiars products. Perhaps its my process or the fact that the Meguiars polishes are *my* standard for polishes, but when it comes to rotary work the Meg's 80 series is GREAT.

^ I agree, as for the moment #83 DACP with my rotary removes swirls and leaves a better prepped surface in less time than Optimum..

I talked to David today and he assured me that Hyper Compound is compatible with the PC. He uses organic abrasives that fully break down under shear or frictional forces. He also says the longer you work it, the more it breaks down. Conceivably, on lighter colors, you could use Hyper Compound with a PC or Cyclo, work it long enough and be able to go straight to an LSP.

There is a local Optimum distributorin the Dallas area, so I'll be contacting him to order some to try out.

i hear ya scott.. i just can't wait to put it through its paces :waxing:

local dallas area eh .. you lucky guy for living where you live ! :D

I'd be curious to see how it works via PC too. I was going to get some OCC, but just never ordered it. I'm now wondering if this would be a better choice. I'm looking for something that cuts fast, with low dusting time. I'm also looking for the "most" aggressive polish/compound via PC, as I don't feel comfortable on the rotary.

I'm still having a hard time seeing differences between OCC and OHC... :nixweiss

^ you are having a hard time ? oh no !! well all i know is, if this OHC don't work, my garbage will have not 1 but 3 bottles of Opt. compound.. and I'll be ordering Mez powergloss that same day

Why did you buy two bottles of OCC? Or are you referring to OCP? I think OCP is a good polish, I love the 0 dusting, and it definately improves the finish. I just can't stand the long working time via PC. When I read OCC cuts way faster via PC than OCP, I was pretty excited. I'm now wondering if OHC would be better than OCC, because i'm now reading reviews claiming OCC is on par with SSR2.5, which sometimes for me doesn't quite do it on the PC.

Ah well, I guess i'll let time tell for me and wait for the reviews. The only car I plan on detailing for the coming winter months is my own, and I certaintly don't need anything to abrasive. I was looking for a strong compound/scratch remover for those really bad cars I detail once in a while. The Optimum lineup really appealed to me with the 0 dusting, I just need something that works in fast, I already take WAY to long with my details as it is. :o

I read a post on some forum somewhere by David of Optimum in which he stated that OCC worked really well with a PC; but wasn't living up to expectations when used with a rotary. He went on to say that the original motivation for development of OHC was to deal with these rotary issues. I'll be interested in what PC users think of OHC compared to OCC.

I found the post. It's NOT from David of Optimum, but interesting nonetheless.
