Opti Seal

Couple of thoughts after doing my car with the stuff.

1 - Priming the applicator with a QD is bad mojo. Causes all kinds of streaking. My hood looks like it's had grease smeared on it. Fortunately they include 2 sponges so I switched after the hood fiasco and things went smoother.

2 - A little really does go a long way. I did the whole car on probably less than 15 pumps and that was with trying to redo parts of the hood that the QD primed applicator streaked up.

3 - The stuff isnt very slick. Maybe after it's had some time to cure it will get slicker but right now, there is 0 slickness.

Anthony, your labels look good......

Hey thanks Eliot :)

I'm glad you like the labels and I sure hope the product inside is even better!

Yea priming the pad with anything other than OS would not be advised. Take that sponge and just hand wash it with some dish soap, rinse it very well and let dry completely before using again.

You should notice some improved slickness after it cures. Durability though is the main goal, looks and slickness following that.

Searched through this whole thread and dont remember seeing anything comparing opti-seal to JW products. How do they compare?

Also do I have to use a all-in-one like poliseal for a base for opi-seal or can i just top OP with opti? Basically looking to see if I need to buy both OP and poli-seal. BTW just got my PC and im looking to pick up pads/products next week.

Can't help with the AW stuff but Opti-Seal is a stand alone product or it can be used in conjunction with other products, either on top or underneath.

Whats all this hooplaa about Opti-Seal ? , I thought this stuff was being test last year and is no more different than a one step polish, cleaner and protectant like #80. Am I missing something ?

I think you are thinking about Poli-seal.

Maybe they should have thought of a different name for one of these two products because I can envision lots of confusion. It's already happened a couple times here.

We went over and over with the name deal...."Opti-Seal" just seemed to stick as David and I had conversations because "beta sample #?" was getting confusing.

It's a pure "sealer" made by Optimum which we believed to be "Optimum", hence Opti-Seal.

Oh thanks for clearing up the confusion !

I was hoping that OPT would not gone the root as other companies making tons of products that do the same thing.

Why have OCW when they are virtually producing the same thing. Get rid of one or the other !, produce less products, but provide better products and pricing !

I use the Optimum car wax after each wash. I also use it sprayed on a MF towel to burnish the paint 30 minuets after a coating of Opti-Seal. It gives the finish that little extra.

They aren't the same thing and have a different look.

Is it possible to "burnish" uncured but dry OS so close to its application without actually removing some or all, especially with the high solvent content of OCW? :nixweiss

Not sure why you believe OCW to have such a "high solvent content".....but anyway, in our testing we have found all the Optimum products to be compatible, such as Opti-Seal on Poli-Seal, OCW on top of Poli-Seal and also Opti-Seal. Opti-Seal is also compatible with other products we have tried it with such as carnauba paste waxes and polishes......and again, it has no acrylics or silicones.

Which high solvent content are you speaking of? I am unaware of this.
