Optimum Product Support
I thought I'd do a little test with pics just to make you all feel a little more comfortable with Opti-Coat. Two big concerns are its permenance and inability to be layered. I have had Opti-Coat on my hood for over two years and need no more proof of its durability, so I decided to add another layer just because I wanted to see the effect that Anthony O referred to when he stated that it could not be layered after an extended period. Sure enough this is what I got:
So how hard will this hazing be to fix since this is a "permanent" coating?
One pass of the new Optimum Hyper Compound and it was fixed. PC7428 with Orange Edge 2K Medium Cutting Pad @ 1000 RPM.
Now i had to reapply the Opti-Coat because I've grown quite fond of it. I went over the hood with a green Edge Polishing Pad and the New Hyper Polish, then a prep sol wipedown. The product goes on very easy...just like Opti-Seal, but it flashes a bit faster so I had to work fast to do the whole hood at once.
Here is how it looks after application, but just before it starts to flash off
After about 2 minutes, I buffed out a couple of high (thick) spots and here is the final product.
I hope this makes you all feel a bit more comfortable and helps with some concerns you may have had. This is also an example of the worst case scenario if you have to buff out high spots when they are allowed to cure.
Regards,
Chris
