Opti Coat new wheels need advice

I received my opti coat 2.0 today and my new wheels come in tomorrow and I plan on coating them to cut down on brake dust and make them easier to clean. What should I do to prep the brand new wheels? Whats the best way to apply it to wheels? Any other suggestions.

Thanks

I would do a dawn wash and ipa wipe. Make sure to use media that will not scratch.

So I just wash with Dawn soap and wipe down with IPA afterwards. I am new to IPA wipe downs and after reading should have been doing it a long time ago. Oh well. Anyway the rims are hypersilver and would imagine a 50/50 alcohol/water in a spray bottle should be ok?

yes that will be fine

I did a 75/25 wipe down on a Harley I opti-coated and it worked just fine on all the metals. This was after a mild metal polish too.

Since I'm offering sorta-obvious advice, also remember to check lug nut/bolt compatibility between the new wheels and your OE spare. I sometimes have to carry spare-specific lugs in some vehicles, one car even needs an additional lug wrench in another size.
