opti coat 2.0

Sonax will not remove it once cured, but you will not need more than wash shampoo and a little agitation once coated. My wheels were the first thing to get it. You will never regret coating rims.

Thanks Chris ..... would you recommend claying and polishing the wheels again to remove the Rejex before applying the Opti-Coat?

You need to apply it to a bare surface stripped of all product and oils. If you need to repolish then go ahead, but if you just need the Rejex removed then clean till there's no beading and then go for it.

Chris,

After buffing down any high spots of OC vers 2.0, is the microfiber towel worthless or can it be washed and re-used? Does the choice of mf cloth make a difference, for example a micro-suede vs a traditional plush buffing cloth?

With Opti Coat, your goal is just an even coat so...technically you should NOT be "buffing" it like you would if you were removing product residue. You are only removing a little product that was applied too thick. So you really should try to avoid touching it more than necessary after you see it flash to clear so that the surface can self level and cure smooth.

You want to wash your applicator and towels soon after usage, but there should be no adverse affects to them and no reason to demote them to wheel duty. I personally just use the outer edge of the applicator that has less product on it to even out spots and have no need to use a microfiber...but, I've been using the coatings for 4 years now.

The choice of MF, if you go that route, only needs to not marr. Short nap or push doesn't matter. We even experimented early in the process with using the rolled blue shop towels for applying and evening the coating and they did a good job, but absorbed a bit too much product. From my experience, they never marred in the conditions I used them in. I have also used disposable MF's from Stoner that work really well.
