Just wondering what everyone thoughts were on this product ?

It's a one step cleaner / wax / prep type of stuff. I have some and used it and really got bad results or should I say un impressive results would be more realistic . the bottle I have is about 2 years old now . Always stored inside at room temp.

Will this stain grained trim ???

Should I be using this with my PC ? what type of pad and speed may help results.

I am about to order some o

OPT stuff since I think the ONR is awesome , but have have had marginal luck with other stuff. it's all 2+ years old now. Time for a fresh updated stuff if formulas have changed , anyone know ?

Not sure if OPS has been reformulated recently or not, I know there was a new version in the works. Decent cleaning power with a polishing pad, light correction ability with a cutting pad but it won't cut through anything significant. Work it until it pretty much disappears into the paint, then wipe off. Very slick carnauba look. Durability is a couple months. Really good for cars you are prepping for sale. You can add OCW on top for some added durability.

I just bought some but haven't used it yet. I've heard that adding opti polish II (about 20%) gives it a much better cut.

Poli Seal is a great tool but must be chosen for the right job...just like anything else. If your paint is dull or oxidized it works and looks wonderfully. However, if you correction requires more than chemical cleaning you will need and abrasive type AIO or multistep process. PoliSeal can be blended with Polish II (70%PS/30%P2) to provide more cut, but my opinion is to just do a true polishing or compounding step if that is what is needed to meet your expectations. Poli Seal only has the cut of a finishing polish and is more of a "cleaner + sealant + wax" than a paint correction (deep swirls, RIDS) product.

Scott is correct about choosing different pads for different results and another thing worth mentioning is that you shouldn't use a lot of product. About 4 pea sized dots on a 6.5 inch pad initially followed by 2 for for each of the following panels is all you need. If you are using too much the pad will gum up quickly and stop removing contaminates. Keeping a pad cleaning brush or a damp Terry towel close for cleaning on the fly between sections will also maximize cleaning ability and improve results. Just like getting the dirt out of your wash mitt, keeping you pad surface clean is just as important especially when removing debris and leveling paint.

I think my problem was I was applying to heavy it sounds like. I like to use it for prep as an AIO , BUT i do top with something else . I use it as more for removing old stuff and starting with a a good protection clean slate even though I know it's really not a clean slate per say. I do mostly well maintained new cars so correction is really not my issue . I will give it a try again.

Great! I tried to cover all the bases and I'm glad I touched on your troubles. Poli Seal just disappears into the paint so it is hard to "see" your progress and it requires a little trust/faith. After a couple times you should have it down.

Best Regards,

Chris

Chris,

Since you're "in the know" when it pertains to OPT products, is there a new version of PS on it's way as Scottwax mentioned. If so, are there any details that you can share regarding it?

Thanks!

Hi Mike

I don't think Scott said a new version was on the way, but rather he was unsure if the original formula has ever had an update. I know that didn't answer your question, but I hate to spread hype before new versions or products are announced.

I got a sample to test a while back, seemed to have a touch more pop so I didn't know if there was a running change that was implemented or more testing is going on. I know Dr. G likes to test, test, test, retest and then test some more before he changes anything. He didn't say anything was imminent or that there would in fact be any change in the product, just that he wanted me to give him some feedback.
