Opinions/Suggestions on my website.

Since I see a lot of these, I figured I'd throw mine up here, too. I've been working on it for a good 3-4 months. Putting in a good days worth of editing/customizing/writing/proof-reading, then letting it sit for a week or two so I could come back to it with a fresh mind. I researched most every Autopian's site and a ton of local detailers to match pricing/layout. To avoid bias by explaining myself too much, I'll shut up now. I'd like to see others opinions, and don't worry, I have thick skin - tell me how you really feel.

Quenga Detailing - Home

I'm no website expert, but here's a couple things that quickly come to my mind. The 3 pictures on the homepage, I would change them to full on shots of completed details. Also, they should all be the same size. As a detailer, I know what I'm looking at, but to the average person, I don't think they would see the 50/50 on the black car, the headlight restoration pic isn't really self explanatory and it's hard to see the red before and after over the blue car, and 2 year garantee for what? I don't think the before and after is drastic enough for the average person to tell one headlight is restored and the other isn't. And the pic on the right, I'm just not sure what you are trying to show there.

On your FAQS page, the first question especially, there's TMI, people don't care that it's difficult for us to carry water or we don't have a vehicle big enough. It sounds like you are making excuses and that puts people off. I would get rid of the second question all together, it sounds like you are trying too hard to justify something. IMO, there's just too much that nobody cares about, people want to know what can you offer, and how it can benefit them. Too much info can lose the sale just as fast as not enough info. I think you have too much going on there. Just keep it simple. Nobody cares how much your website costs.

On your about me page, get rid of the part where you talk about how much it costs to run the business. Keep it about you and about how your service can benefit your customers. Nobody cares how much it costs to run the business they are looking to hire.

Keep it to what you can do, prices, some things about you and maybe add some helpful tips the customers can use or link to some good detailing articles or even write your own. Leave out anything that doesn't matter to the customer that doesn't have to do with you detailing their car.

When I made my first website I also put too much info, and what I'm telling you here is pretty much the same thing that some people told me, so I simplified it and now getting better results from it.

Hope this helps and it's just my opinion.

I'm not a professional at either detailing or web design, but one thing I noticed is that on your wash services page you refer to "Maintenance Wash," "Detailer Wash" and "Wash and Wax." The "Wash and Wax" includes a "Luxury Wash," that is also mentioned elsewhere in the packages, but never described. I'm pretty sure you mean the "Luxury Wash" and "Detailer Wash" to be the same thing. but the inconsistent nomenclature could be confusing to some.

Oh, nice catch! Yes, Detailer and Luxury wash are the same thing. I changed the name to Luxury Wash when I changed my website name. I copied and pasted information and forgot to update it! Done.

quenga detailing logo should be a in a cleaner font, the one you have looks distressed and does not convey a good feeling of professionalism nor industry aptitude.

Thanks! I never thought of it that way. I'm actually working with a few friends that are getting into graphic design. They are taking forever to get me a real logo so I can start getting shirts and stuff done. I'll have to bug them faster. I liked it because it played off my military background, but now that you mention it, just about everyone I showed it to is military...so, we're all bias. Love the input! Thanks guys!

For your prices you list the service followed by a dash, then a dollar sign/number, and sometimes followed by a plus sign. Example: Luxury Wash -$50+ Sometimes there is no plus and obviously nobody is going to read that as a negative dollar value but since you did a great job with font color differentiation I just don't think you need the dash and it makes it looks busy. Just "Luxury Wash $50+"

Also I noticed you remove seats for $25/seat. Has anyone done this and did you think it was worth it? I ask because taking out seats can be a pain and it just doesn't seem like it would pay you enough to do. On late model cars they always have air bag connections that you need to undo and that may or may not throw a code and need recalibration when put back in. Not to mention memory seat function that may be lost and the fact that seats are big and bulky and removing/installing without damaging trim is tough to do. Unless you have the ability to clear an "airbag" light on in the dash I would stay away from offering this service.

What method are you using for water spot removal? I have run across some nasty water spots in my day and I think for $15 you are going to be in over your head on pretty much everything but the lightest of spotting.

I would also agree with the other guys that better pictures could be used, especially for paint correction. The mirror one is decent but a head on angle of the black one would serve you much better. Like the other guys said, being a detailer myself I know what I am looking at but I don't think most people would.

Good site though and it looks like you have put in a lot of effort.

Yes, better pictures are coming. I'm trying to use the "best" of what I have. I never really took a lot of photos because I never thought I'd do this full-time. So documenting my work was time consuming and didn't matter since all of my work was referral only. I've been trying to get better photos, but I haven't had any correction jobs, so I'm waiting for better ones.

The dash between the pricing, great idea. I just fixed it.

The seat removal is only available on older cars, and I don't fully remove the seats. I usually just unbolt and then tilt them out of the way, making sure not to set off codes. I completely forgot that was even still up there, I just kept glazing over it, but it used to, and now does, say not always available.

The water spot, same thing, I must have forgot to copy/paste the info. I use regular water spot remover stuff, but I always convince people they need correction work, which will take care of spotting anyway. I agree with you though and changed it to "call" for the pricing. Much better idea.

Thanks again for all the help guys! The site is looking WAY better!
