Opinions on this dent?

I really need to clean the floor mats my car came with, I was wondering if any of you guys could give me a list of products you mix to clean mats that are pretty bad off.

I remember not to long ago you people were mixing nuclear cleaners to get your floor mats looking new. If you could give me a list of what you use I can clean my mats before I use my car again this upcoming friday.

Spot clean the tough spots with rubbing alcohol. Woolite, or even regular laundry detergent after that. Scrub with a brush, rinse with good pressure. Repeat as necessary.

If you say Woolite is safe to use I think I'll take that route. For the rugs I think I am going to go with a medium stiff bristle brush. All of the hours I spent on my carpet last time did not yeild awesome results. I was more worried about "fraying" the carpet. The seats are a whole different issue. I can't even find a stupid vacum strong enough to suck the soap out of the seats. If I want to shampoo them I need to pretty much get a wet rag and try to rub the soap out, it's not working out too well and I don't want to spend 100.00 on a 6.0 hp wet/dry vac even though I need one in order to shampoo the seats.

Matter of fact, I may just use my buddies father's vac.

if you have EF Hi Intensity, try that on bad stains...it can work wonders. For general light-duty dirt/crud, the EF carpet & fabric cleaner works well.

I tried out a great new homemade formula to clean carpet, including the mats. A couple tablespoons of Tide mixed with one scoop of Oxi-Clean powder in a one quart container with warm water. Poured a little on the carpet and rubbed in real good with a scrub brush. Took out all the coffee and coke stains and made the carpet look new in my wife's minivan.

after you get them clean (I've used Tide before),

save yourself the trouble and get rubber floor mats ?:)?

I can't I have a Camaro, if I use the rubber mat's I'll be a loser .... it's just the way the car looks inside, rubber wouldn't match too well with all of the other plastic already in the car.

I'll look like the bubble boy :)

What color floor mats do you have? Sounds like you discovered a great mixture there, and want to know if i can use it on my grey Pathy floor mats..

By the way, how long did you spend trying to take the soap out of the carpet?

The van's floormats are tan/beige in color and are not that high in quality. The solution does not provide much suds so there wasn't much to remove once the stains were out. That's the benefit of washing machine soap; very low suds. I just let it air dry when it was done.

I kind of ramble on here for a while about my experience buying a car last fall, so bear with me, there are cliff notes at the bottom along with my actual question.

Hey guys,

Haven't been on here for a while, took a detailing break through the winter, but I gotta start gearing up again 'cause spring will be here before I know it.

So last November I bought an '04 Subaru WRX wagon for a new practical daily.

It came in pretty handy this winter,

Drove down to Chicago to get it, as everything locally had been selling within a few days. Now, the salesman I had was absolutely awful, quite literally the worst. About 5 minutes into the test drive he answers his phone and begins to yell into the receiver in Arabic for about another 5 minutes, and then tells me we have to turn around right away and go back to the dealership. Okay...

Once back at the dealership he tells me "Okay, it's great, right? You are going to buy it." I knew he didn't ask, because he just turned around and walked inside the dealership after making this statement. Now, this was a used car, with no warranty whatsoever, from Chicago (no offense to any Chicago-ites, but I think your city is a bit shady). I wasn't exactly keen to sign any paperwork after only warming up the fluids.

We haggled for a little bit, which he was terrible at, and eventually settled on a price (I had to bend his arm just to have him replace the burned out turn signals!). So, papers get signed, I get some keys, and he tells me that they need to send the title through Illinois DMV, to the Wisconsin DMV, and then to me, so I can take it to the bank for collateral. Add that to the column of "things that make me uncomfortable about this transaction".

Fast forward two and a half months, and I've still got no title. I started to call and complain to anybody who would listen at the dealership about a month after purchase, as my bank was rather anxious to get that title, and rightly so. Eventually the bank has to start calling them, and gets the same treatment I did. They were put on hold for twenty minutes at a time, hung up on, and re-directed to random sales people who knew nothing about the situation. Only once the bank threatened to get Chicago PD involved did they say "Well looky here! We have your title sitting right here in this folder. Whoops!"

In short, don't deal with Grossinger Toyota Scion if you can avoid it, they are an absolute clusterf**k of a dealership.

Here is my question,

When I bought the car, it came with this dent, the salesman assured me that it would come out "no problem" (as salesmen are apt to do), and I disagreed with him on the matter. Now, I haven't yet contacted my local PDR guy, but I will once it gets a bit warmer out, I'm just curious as to what the forum's opinions are on the matter.

Do you think this dent can come out?

It kind of looks like it has multiple creases, but it's really just once scallop shaped dent.

The main part of the dent can come out, what your PDR tech will have an issue with is the base of the fender, where the metal creases and folds under, into the car. I've been using my PDR guy for over a decade and he has taken out all sorts of dings and dents (even larger and deeper than yours)- he is an artist, an an anal one at that. Whatever he does comes out perfect. But he stays away from anything near a body crease, as he cannot get it perfect and there is a higher chance of the paint cracking.

You may be able to get a PDR tech to give it a shot, but don't expect perfection.

Don't know what to say about the dent but if you disliked the dealership so much I would
remove their license plate holder so that you don't advertise for them! Good luck with your dent.

pjvosotas, that's about what I figured. I'll have the guy come out here and take a look in the next couple months, even if he can't do anything for that panel there are some other small dings I'd like to have taken out.

firebird, LOL! Don't worry, that's an old picture, the plate holder was burned months ago.
