Opinions Needed for a noob

hi need your opinions for my black lexus. these are the products i plan on using but cant decide which is better.

Step:

1: Clay

2: Meguiars Fine Cut Cleaner or Swirl Remover 2.0?

3: Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze or Meguiar’s #21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0? Which one will last the logest and easiest to apply?

4: Meguirs Hi-Tech Yellow Wax or Klasse all In One(Can I apply this on top of sealant?) or any other topper you can recommend.

Thanks Guys

I do.

If you plan on using Klasse, the All in one goes on first before the sealant glaze. If you use the sealant glaze, layer it up. The Megs sealant is a good offering too.

And regarding your use of the Meguiars polishes, what sort of swirls/damage are you dealing with? Machine or hand?

Thanks for your response. Between Klasse and Megs sealant which one will last the longest?

I'm working on a black car with light to moderate swirls with a portor cable. Will the megs fine cut be too strong?

HUGE difference in cut between those two! The Fine Cut/M02 is an older-tech product and somewhat aggressive. If you need something that harsh I'd lean towards M105 or Ultimate Compound instead as I think they'd be a lot easier for you to work with.

The Swirl Remover v2.0/M09 is, OTOH, SOOOOO gentle that it's a waste of time IMO. It'll conceal/fill but won't remove anything, not even the micromarring that the above-mentioned products leave behind. I'd skip it in favor of M205 or Scratch-X or Swirl-X.

3: Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze or Meguiar’s #21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0? Which one will last the logest and easiest to apply?

The M21 will be easier to apply and less likely to have issues with the polishing oils that the Meguiar's polishes leave behind. But it won't last as long as the Klasse Sealant Glaze. Much as I like the latter, I sorta think you might be happier trying an all-Meguiar's approach, at least this time.

4: Meguirs Hi-Tech Yellow Wax or Klasse all In One(Can I apply this on top of sealant?) or any other topper you can recommend.

As noted, the KAIO goes on *before* the Sealant Glaze; it's a paint cleaner that leaves a little bit of stuff behind.

Again, I'd lean towards an All-Meguiar's approach this time, but I dunno if you'll really find the #26 necessary after the M21. I myself would just choose one or the other and reapply as needed.

Oh, and Welcome to Autopia!

Accumulator,

Thanks for the reply. How is the M205 compared to M82?

Also can i apply Megs M21 over KAIO or are these product incompatible? I ask because somebody already gave me a bottle of KAIO.

If it was your choice which of the 2 products is superior?

I coulda sworn I responded to this yesterday

M82 is basically a newer version of the M09 v2.0 with slightly different abrasives that are more clearcoat-friendly. So it's about as useless as M09 (to put it rather harshly :o ).

Most anything without cleaners is OK over KAIO, so I'd expect it to work fine.

Eh...it just depends. I know, crappy answer..but it really does.

Once you're closer to your final decision, run your short-list past me and I'll be happy to comment on it.

Accumulator,

I've decided to go with the following

Meg's 205

KAIO

Meg's 21 2.0

Any thoughts and tips?

That should work OK but the M205 might not do as much correction as you'd like.

I can't help but wonder about the #21, but I'm not that familiar with it. Note that *many* sealants like that don't last as long as waxes like Collinite, and..well, I'm just a big fan of using Collinte on top of products like KAIO (when not using KSG).

Still, don't worry about that :D Your list is fine.

Use the products as per their instructions; don't overwork the M205 (buff it off before it dries), apply the KAIO with a slightly damp applicator (and I'd buff it off before it dries completely too).

If M205 isnt strong enough should I use M105 for light to moderate swirls or will it be too harsh?

Instead of using #21 i'll probably end up using KSG since the durability is better.

If the M205 isn't strong enough then I wouldn't worry about the M105 being too harsh.

Layer the KSG. Six layers last a *LONG* time for me. I'd pick up some FK425 and use that after each wash; I spritz it on when I'm drying.
