Hello:

I have an 05 Boxster with midnight blue (purplely/blackish) metallic paint...I purchased a PC XP with Optimum Polish and Optimum Compound...I also purchased the PC DVD and followed it to a tee...Suffice it to say I don't thik i removed any swirl marks and I ended up with some "zipper" like marks on the hood...I used the compound with an orange pad and the polish with a white pad...I'm lookng to understand the following...1) Any sugestions on how i ended up with these "zipper" like marks? 2) Should I continue with this product line or can you reccomend product that may work better...? I'm not totally new at this but could use some good advice...thanks kindly in advance...

If you got a zipper mark with the PC, chances are really good you had some dirt on the pad. How long did you work each product? How deep are your siwrls? Post up what area you are in and a fellow autopian might be able to help.

i'm i Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada...I don't think the swirls are that deep...yes I was using pressure...Should I be switching product? Also if there is someone in my area, I would love to see your expertise...thanks kindly...

look up forum member "BAKER", he is in Bridgewater.

As far as product use, you should use the compound until the swirls disappear, then use the polish to bring the shine back to the paint. Did the surface even get kinda cloudy with the compoud?

thanks yakky, I will...no i don't believe the surface got cloudy as i was probably being careful, but i did work the compound in each area for a few mnutes...

Yeah, you were probably going too light then. A Porsche is too nice to mess up, is there another car you can practice on? Maybe something else painted around the house like a washer or toolbox?

there were a couple tiny spots i worked by my index finger and rag and they clouded up...i think i may have to practice on wifeys 7 yo Golf!!! I intended to do that but decided to "cut" to the chase...I PM'd Baker...thx again...
