Opinion on layering SG and Wax on a white car...

After removing all swirls and reducing the hairline scratches on my spoiler, and using Menzerna FP/IP and Klasse AIO. I layered 3 coats of SG on my spoiler, will top it with 2 coats of Paste Glaz and 1 coat of S100. (So far I only have 3 coats of SG and 1 coat of Paste Glaz) Here's my review sort of..



The spoiler is BLINDINGLY bright and shiny under direct afternoon sunlight, I can't even look at it directly.. But under shade it's quite reflective, almost like a black car but not quite.. I can see myself and the surroundings. Wet looking? In a way it is, but not the flat surfaces, only the curves.. Its really smooth, and with the additional Paste Glaz I leave less fingerprints compared to SG alone.



I'm not sure if S100 or a second coat of Pinnacle Paste Glaz will make it look better, I'm just adding those 2 for more protection, espcially S100 aganst Dust
 
Trust me... Topping a white car that has a few layers of SG on it with a carnauba makes a huge difference. I've been experimenting with products on my car for a couple years now and the Klasse with carnauba combo is pretty impressive. I like the look of P21S layered over Souveran on my car so that is kind of the routine I go for when layering carnauba. Just give it a day or two between coats and you'll see a definite difference.

So how many layers of SG do you put? And how many of Souveran and S100? So I have to wait more than 24 hours before coats? Cause Between the SG Layers I only waited for 24 hours and another 24 hours for the SG --> Paste Glaz..
 
I stop at 5 layers of SG. I just layer the wax every other week. My process is never done. This isn't a quick job that can be done in a couple days. My process takes a couple months. It sounds like you are looking for a formula for greatness that will last without being maintained. I wait a full day between coats of SG and usually more like a week. When I am building up the layers I do it once a week. So it takes me 5 weeks to get the Klasse layers up and then the week after the last layer of SG I put on Souveran. Then two weeks later I put on P21S. Then two weeks later maybe PPG or something like that. Sometimes its a week between coats and sometimes its 3 weeks. I just add a new coat of wax at least once a month to maintain the appearance. I don't think the perfect shine is ever completed. It may be perfect for a little while but it has to be maintained. Throwing on 5 coats of Klasse SG and half a dozen coats of wax in 2 weeks would not only wear you out but it would also wear off your car before mine does. By stretching it out over a month for the Klasse layers and another few weeks for the carnauba layers I am maintaining a shine that will last me all summer.

Actually no I'm not looking for a quick fix, I don't mind maintaining the car even if this means waxing every week. I'm just following most of the Articles or Topics I've read here. Like in Jim's Klasse Instruction he said to wait 24 hours for every layer of SG or Carnuba so that's what exactly I'm doing layering coats of SG or Carnuba everyday. If I knew I could do it every week then I would've done that since it's easier.



Oh and another thing, I dunno if I layered the SG properly or not but when I installed the Spoiler just now, my car and the spoiler has almost the same shine. And my car is quite dirty/dusty, it's been more than 2 months since I claybarred, polished, glazed and wax the car with Gold Class wax and I can't believe the shininess is on par with Menzerna, AIO, SG x3 and Paste Glaz combined.. I dunno maybe I'm just blind or I wiped the SG too much while it was curing. Is that even possible?
 
There is a picture of a freshly painted hood somewhere around here. Its shine and gloss rivals everything I've ever seen. Fresh paint is pretty impressive. If your car was red or blue then you would totally see the difference. White is pretty hard to really see the shine. Maintaining it like we do just keeps it looking like fresh paint. With other colors you can tell the difference because of the depth and reflectivity. White just doesn't have that. I'll settle for fresh paint look. :D

That sounds right to me. Silver isn't that different than white IMO, and yes the flat surfaces don't do much, but the curves can really catch the light in just that perfect way that makes you smile. :)
 
Breadman, have I told you lately that you're my hero? ;) Your commitment to process and patience is a 10. (Of course, if you'd make that dog-gone cookie stop dancin', you'd be a 20! :D )
 
Hey now, the cookie has soul coarsing through his veins. How can I ask him to stop dancing without condeming him to a life without rhythm? :D When ya gots ta dance ya gots ta dance! I may have to think about it if it means I get elevated to a 20 though.... ;)
 
Jngr, there's a 20 in your future. Feel it ... believe it ... connect with it ... detail it ..... :D JUST DO IT, FOR GODSAKES!!!!
