OP vs 106ff

Before I put my order in for a finishing polish, just wanted some opinions on using op after sip.....Ive seen that a few of you have done it here and just wanted to know if op was a good alternative to 106ff....I have a black 03 mercedes e320....Thanks in advance.

It's just personal experience/opinion... I didn't like how it worked, gummed up my pads, etc. Just wasn't for me. I am looking forward to cutting M105 with some OP to see how it reacts with dusting and working time, as it is recommended by quite a few trusted detailers on the board

Not trying to convince you to love or even like OP, but if your pad was gumming up, you were using too much. No wonder you didn't care for it.
 
I have 106 and OP and when I first got 106 i thought it was better but then I realized that was the forum's influence over me rather than my own real experience.



I then did several side by side tests on my own car and some customers cars with identical pads and after an alcohol wipedown to remove any fillers, OP beat the 106ff in defect removal, gloss, and not to mention that it does not dust and can be worked forever.



In the end, I ended up ordering another bottle of OP while my 2 bottles of 106ff are now collecting dust.

If they are gathering dust, how about sending me a bottle so that I can see what all the hulaboo is about. I have optimum polish and I like it too but I wouldn't mind some menzerna to try out. If the price is right I might free up some of your shelf space for something else.:grinno:

I have used both, and thought they were both awesome, but different. The 106ff finishes very fine and brings out a TON of gloss. I find OP to be more of a middle polish, although it works great and finishes very glossy as well. TBH, I usually use OP on light cars and 106ff on dark though, so I haven't really done a fair comparison- yet.



I guess I know what I am doing tomorrow! :lol

Unless there is s DRAMATICALLY better finish with P106ff, I don't understand the justification for spending more money for the Menz. Does the Menz cut polishing time down significantly?
 
I have been using Optimum polishes and compounds for almost a couple of years and have really liked them. They do not gum up pads at all unless you use way too much product, there is no dusting and you get a very long work time as well. Last year I thought I would try 106FF to see if there is any difference between that and OP. First off about 98% of my business is black vehicles so differences in gloss and reflections are very noticeable. Right away I found 106FF had more cut than OP and unfortunately had a lot of dusting as well. After polishing out half the hood on my black Jetta and after an ISO wipe down the side polished with 106FF was far more glossy and the reflections were amazing. Even Wy wife commented on how reflective it looked. She said our car has never looked that good. Now after using a full bottle up on many vehicles I can honestly tell you 106FF is a far superior polish in every way except the dusting. I've just recently started using 106FA. 106FA seems to be identical in every way to 106FF except there is almost no dusting to speak of. Even though 106FF & 106FF are very expensive they are worth every penny IMHO.
 
I've tried both, and IME, the extra $$$ is well worth it for the Menz.

BTW...if dusting is an issue for you with the 106FF...the 106FA will make you extremely happy :)
 
Plus the if you work on any of the new hard clear coats the op won't put a dent in the as the Menzerna 106ff,106fa,Sip and couple of the others
 
I use, and would recommend that you purchase both. OP is my back-up polish when 106FF acts up. Menzernas are very sensitive to environment whereas Optimum products are not. The trade off is that OP will not give you as much cut, if any, in comparison to 106...at least in my experience. OP is easier to work with as well, and doesn't fill. Again, price is a factor, but I would look into buying both because 106FF actually cuts and leaves a very nice finish too. You have to perform an IPA wipedown after using 106 though, no questions asked. Like other's have said, 106FF will dust, and OP will not (minimal if any). 106FA apparently doesn't dust as much though.
