ONR Rules!

I just tied ONR for the first time. I used 2 buckets one with ONR and one with rinse water. Sheep skin mitt for washing and MF towels for drying. I had some sand and gunk on the paint, it came right off without a problem. I still think a starndard was is better in some ways, but this was much faster and less messy.

Does anyone know if ONR will interfere with Zaino? I use z-8 after washing, not sure how this will react with ONR.

Steve

I think ONR is fine over any LSP, including zaino but it's a fair question, especially since ONR does such a nice job cleaning wheels. Tough grime on tires and brake dust on wheels just seem to wipe off. I've used DG AW after an ONR wash and it looked great.

I am still leary on using this method - no rinse products such as ONR and QEW. Isn't the potential there to introduce new swirls and scratches. I trust you guys.. but to me it's taking a huge risk over the two bucket method, grit guard and hose.

The potential is always there, no matter if you are washing your car, polishing it or waxing it.

The only real risk with ONR would be if you had something stuck in your wash medium or towels. I've been using QEW since the early 90s and have never had a problem. Switched over to ONR when it came out because of increased slickness after washing and better peformance on glass.

That problem has been addressed according to David.

Is that a problem? The 32oz bottle I just received last week is grey. It is my first time using it and I didn't know it was supposed to be blue.

It is only a problem if you are put off by the color. The product works the same whether it is the original blue or turns grey.

The new color is supposed to be more stable but I guess I won't know until I need to buy another gallon-I go through them about every 6-8 weeks or so.

Since I didn't know what color it was supposed to be, it makes no difference to me as long as it works the same. Anyways, I've only used ONR twice, but I have to say I don't know if I'll ever go back to conventional washing. I cleaned my wheels, washed and dried, and applied a coat of collinite 476 to my car today in about an hour. The actual washing and drying only took about 15 mins. Granted I was in a hurry because I had to get to work, but the ONR is a huge timesaver. It is really amazing stuff.

Hi...

New user here. Deanski referred me to the ONR product line and I am going to try it out soon (just arrived in the mail). My question is,...has anyone wiped off the ONR solution with a fine car squeegee (like Griot's)? I figured this way maybe you could cut down on the number of MF towels used in the process. TIA, dave

DO NOT do that--stick to fresh, clean, high quality MF towels flipped constantly to produce a clean contact area with the paint.

I wouldn't do that! I prefer the waffle weave MF towel, first wet, then dry.

yeah. i just used onr for the first time literally minutes ago. i certainly wouldn't use a cwb with it. not at all. i'm still experimenting with it. it seems counterintuitive and it doesn't seem that slick at all when using it. i'm still scared by it but it seems to have worked okay.

Whatever you like the most. I like using MF,but I use about 6-7 towels for the paint on my car alone.

Sheepskin is fine, but I would recommend using a bucket of rinse water and maybe a mop strainer bucket to get all the dirt out of the mit. I dunno how Scottwax is able to wash very dirty cars with one bucket & washing pad and get no or little marring.

Because that is the function of the product. It literally eats the dirt as you wash with it. I use chenille covered foam pads, although I am also testing a very soft and fuzzy (think Monster Fluffy MF) microfiber covered foam pad that is holding up perfectly well after nearly two weeks of constant use. I also use two towels at the same time. The Ultra Terry's that Meguiars sells for the first drying pass and the yellow MFs (with the black borders) that I get from excel detail for the final drying pass.
