Can someone give me the misture ratio of ONR and DI water for:



Spray and wiping a "clean Car"



Spray and wipe a clean lightly driven car



Removal of Bird Bombs and Bugs



Since its just for my own car i do not mind mixing stronger if its better for the paint (less marring)

I suggest you are overthinking this. There are specific dilutions stated on the ONR bottle for certain tasks. You could try to come up with inbetween ratios if you'd like to make yourself nuts. I suggest you stick with the bottle dilution ratios and decide which one to use for your tasks.



If you are going to clean a clean car, why use a different dilution ratio than standard ONR washing dilution which is pretty diluted, and you would use for cleaning a dirty car?



For the dirty car and the bird bombs/bugs, use the QD dilution (more concentrated than the wash). If you want to keep it really simple, and you don't mind mixing it stronger, just use the QD strength (6oz/gal) for all your "spray & wipe" ;) applications.

Unless Optimum has corrected them on the newer bottles, the instructions on the gallon bottle, when given in "capfulls" isn't correct. The cap they are referring to is the cap from the 32 oz ONR bottle, which is a different size. I posted the correct conversion for it last year, but don't remember what they are off hand. I use this to measure ONR now:

The gallon of ONR I have says oz per gallon.
 
For me, I use a spray bottle that is mixed the same as my wash mix. I usually use 4 oz/3 gallons to wash. I use this a pre-soak for ONR washes and bird bombs, not much else.



But if I were to use ONR as a QD I would mix per the directions on the bottle.

+1. I use a Nyquil cup that's graduated up to an ounce. Use the ratio listed, this from Dr. G:



1 oz per gallon vs 1 oz per 2 gallons



When you use 1 oz. of No Rinse in 1 or 2 gallons of water for your wash at the molecular level this provides hundreds of billions of polymer molecules to do what was said above. Additional product will not be necessary except if you are using tap water that contains high levels of minerals such as calcium hydroxide or silicates. In these cases some of the polymers will bond to these minerals and take them out of solution therefore more product might be necessary to compensate for this effect. This is another reason why adding No Rinse to a regular car wash soap improves the results when using tap water.

In this case, ONR is softening water, *not* helping to prevent marring by encapsulation of abrasive particles (dirt).

Yes, that is one reason I use ONR for ever wash. It leaves no spots, I have well water. I can leave a small amount of water on the truck instead of having to get every drop.

I've been using tap water with good results. Will have to try distilled next time.



That is, whenever I figure out how to get someone else's paint off my bumper. :bomb:
 
If your not having trouble with tap water than there's no need to spend the extra money on distilled. You must have very little dissolved solids/minerals in it. People with hard water have high amounts of dissolved solids/minerals and when the water dries it leaves behind those solids resulting in water spots.
