One rough Jeep (picture heavy) 56k beware

A friend has wanted me to do her jeep, and she was going on vacation, so I figured it would be the perfect time to do it while she was gone. She dropped it off mid-day on Sunday and I had till Thursday to finish, I figured plenty of time….barely.
The whole jeep was in rough shape from top to bottom and thought I bit off more than I could chew. It had been a few months since I last saw it and I was rather shocked when it got to my home. My friend did say that she did pull some of the larger junk from the interior…yeah sure.

Figured I would start with the easiest which was…

The engine compartment:
Pretty straight forward, went over it twice with gunk engine cleaner agitating where needed for the most part not too bad. Then dressed with CD-2 engine detailer (Love this stuff)

The interior:
After removing all the junk and vacuumed the carpet, I did a pre-treat with Folex then used a spray carpet cleaner and repeated the process again. Dash and vinyl was first cleaned with a 10:1 dilution of APC and treated with PB’ Natural look. Perfect no, but I saw real quick that this jeep was going to take longer than expected.

Now for the fun part…when the jeep rolled in it had everything you didn’t want to see.
Bird bombs of who knows when, swirls, those beautiful bleached out fender that jeep’s are famous for and some God awful looking rims.

Rims:
These things were nasty… the back 2 were already etched and I was afraid that the fronts were going to see the same fate. Fortunately they could be salvaged. The passenger side one I thought was too far gone

Propolish
PB’s Wheel sealant

The paint:
Products/Process:
Meg’s NXT car wash
Clay
SSR 2.5/Propolish mix
White Diamond
4Star UPP
Top dressed with PB’s Natural look
Trim with PB’ Trim restore

I washed the car 2x with Megs NXT then clayed (the surface felt like sandpaper).
I started doing the car with SSR2.5 and some Propolish mixed with a light cut pad but that was short lived, I don’t keep too many cutting pads because I mainly work on my cars and really don’t require them. So I continued with polishing pads via rotary at about 1500 rpm. 2 pads later much of the damage was gone. The surface came out well enough where I didn’t have to go to SSR1 so I next went to the White Diamond with a polishing pad via PC at 2 to help fill some and give it a nice gloss. Then topped with UPP via PC and a finishing pad. I did give it a final wipe down with QD+ just before it was picked up

Sorry about the artistic night shots, but that is when I had time. The bright side was when the owner picked up her Jeep she just kept saying “I can’t believe this is my jeep”
Her mother said, “Now it looks like it did when you first got it”

Those 2 statements alone made this one worth while.

Wow that thing really was dirty! Overall a good job! The only thing I would have done was paint the wheel wells with some original black paint. How long did the detail take?

You sir did an amazing turn around on that Jeep. The before pics ... oh the horror! But the after pis are beautiful! You did some hard and good work on that Jeep. There is one before picture that shows the interior: is that a jar of Gefilte Fish on the floor next to the seat?

The wheels came out looking great. Man they were dirty before. What did you think of the White Diamond?

Really it was kind of like my wife's car. I am soon to do her annual trash and dash....mmm I mean interior detail for her birthday. You are a better man than I am. I do those kind of interiors for my wife but would required a friend to at least bale out most of the junk.

Wheels are something thatalmost anyone short ofthedetailers of the forum let go and your pictures show it. Nice recovery to the wheels. What is sad is that they will soon be that way again. Good work on the engine as well.

The exterior, which is my favorite part is stellar. As I knew it would be. I am going to use your mixture of SSR2.5 and PP on a friends paint next week. It sounds like a winning mix with a white polishing pad. Is "correct and clean" a proper verbage for your mix? I guess it is sort of like PwS but with more corrective power and less protection.

How did you revive the dead dog on the floor to sitting on the seat after the clean up? LOL!!!

Thanks Kirk, after the interior I was expecting a marriage proposal...LOL
The wheels did scare me though...not that I would not get them clean, but the fact that they would be etched.
As for the SSR2.5/Propolish mix, I also thought that it was a bit too heavy (sorry Steve) so this time I thought I would cut it a bit with the propolish and I was glad that I did. I still received all the great cutting power but I was also able to work it a bit longer with practically no dusting (and trust this stuff was worked). It left me with a smooth as glass feel ready for a LSP.
The girl has tha thing for dogs, so I had no intention of messing with the dog, figured after things where made proper again it could ride shot gun W/O wanting to jump out the window...LOL

Sounds like an interesting combo :hmmm: I've used PwS and SSR2.5 together to get a AIO on Super Steroids, but never thought of that combo...

Wow that jeep has running boards! I think this is the first I ever seen one of those jeeps with running boards on them? lol. Great work there. Those jeeps are fun to drive. The turning radius is nuts sometimes. It feels like u can flip them over.
