One more time on "6 inch wool", ONLY!

I bought some 6" Edge 2000 pads last year through my Presta distributor and asked for a 6" green to use with the PC. Well when the order came in instead was a 6" green wool pad. When I called and asked I was told DTD was making them now. It does work very well and is a dream to use with the rotarty. AG sounds like the place to get them from.

I thought I told you in your other thread that 6" Edge 2000 (double sided) wool pads are available.

Does anyone read through the thread before posting ?

sorry rollman, i saw the word prototype i figured you got your hands on some to test didn't know if they were actually out...but hey thanks for clearing that up

Hey Changeling - What's your interest behind the 6 inch pads? Just curious. I've never tried buffing with anything that size.

I also only like 6" pads, dont know how you guys use big pads like 8"+. Panels on most cars know-a-days arent even 8" wide :lol

It's about terminology people.....sometimes using the right word can help a lot.

What should have been asked was...."Where can I get LAMBSWOOL pads?"

Now maybe the original poster had no idea there was a difference between blended and lambswool? No big deal, those with more experience should of then perhaps asked, "You want lambswool?"

Lambswool pads, also called "belly pads" are not blended with other materials such as polyester or foam and they are NOT only good for one use. I can get up to 12 cars out of one lambswool pad (paint condition is the final factor for how long it lasts).

Anthony

EDIT* - DO NOT WASH LAMBSWOOL PADS! Always spur them clean and you can also then use an aircompressor and nozzle to blow them out and fluff them up.

Anthony, David Feramoni, Coupe! First off I am not some idiot that all the other guys seem to think I am, because sometimes I fly off the handle and become very aggressive with people, I do these things, but that is just the way I am. I am not really being nasty!! There are reasons, but that is not the issue here!

Repeatedly I have asked about "6 WOOL pads" to no avail (stop and listen). Everyone seems to think they know where when and how to buy them, to no avail I might add!!

The above guys are the only ones that have stuck up for at least my whim whether they considered it right or wrong, and I really appreciate it!

Of all the 'WOOL"Pads available, I have only been able to find "1" that is " 6 inches "! This is a wool pad made by "Lake Country". It is a lambs wool pad with a Velcro backing that can be used on your 5 to 6" backing plate. This wool pad is distributed by just about everyone in the detailing business, but is the same wool pad, just under different names.

Now, I keep getting condemned because I ask for information concerning 6" wool pads with varying degrees of strength (such as the Edge pads:Black,Blue,Green, White, Etc,.)

WHICH ARE AVAILABLE "ONLY" IN FOAM!!! NOT WOOL!!

I really don't know about Lake Country because I really don't have an answer from them!!

However someone will invariably ask, some profound question that others will wonder about and all the above will be for nothing!!

This isn't being asinine, just repetitious from past posts.

(6 inch wool, for the rotary only)

Guys I am one of the easiest going guys in the world, but I do stand up for myself. If you view me in another light, maybe you should read and look within your own self!

David, only you could get away with that, LOLOL! Thanks for pulling me out of my ranting, sometimes those medicine's get to me, not that it is an excuse, it's just a fact.

I will check out the link you provided. I used a friends Makita with a wool pad on a garden tractor, old fender and the rear of his truck (you can't hurt it). I see what you have been saying (beating into me) for the last several months now. Man, wool is so much smother than foam it's ridiculous!

But doing small/intricate areas just doesn't call for those big 7 to 8 inch wool pads ( as Coupe pointed out), it is hard to manuver them in tight area and still see/feel what you are doing.

I feel that 6 inch wool would go a long way towards helping us new idiots get a handle on things a lot quicker, and make it easier on some of the new smaller vehicles as well as changing body angles.

The LC white washed lambs wool pad I talked about above is the only 6 inch wool pad I have been able to find and it is strongly recommended only for NEW paint by Lake Country!!

The best alternative I have been able to find is Aaron's pads (Edge single sided, need 6" backing plate). They are definitely high quality and measure 7.5 inches. Not what I want, but what I want is not made! I have a bunch of his now, so I guess this is it !

Take care buddy, Changeling.

I assume Cyclo 4" wool pads are not "belly pads", but are blended, correct?

If yes, do you know of any source of 4" "belly pads"? Or I should just try to get 6" ones and cut them down? If yes (meaning I can cut them down) is there a reason why one can't take 8" lambswool pads and cut them down to 6"?

Presta Wool Quick Pads (made by Edge) come in 6" and come in 4 colors; black, yellow, green and blue. I get them from my local autobody shop. I have a few sitting right on my desk.

Ubetit: Well, you have some wool pads that no one else has been able to get! I have checked and double checked, and am very sure I am right, sorry to say!!

But, you seem to be so positive that I would really appreciate a picture (you seem to have the capability) of a ruler and those wool pads you are referring to. A product/Manufacturer number would also be nice. Thank you for your time.

Sorry, I just saw that you did post a picture of the wool pads you have! I have them two! Measure them sir.

This is confusing heck out of me. Quick call to Edge manufacturer says that they are available and can be easily purchased through special order through any of their retailers. Am I missing something or things are way less complex than presented?

The ruler says 6 1/4" to 6 3/4" depending on how puffy they are.

I think 6 inch refers to the size as measured from the back of the pad

Wanna, you are correct. measured from the back but the hairs extend to the 6 inch range. We do make 6 inch wool pads in all our standard colored textures that being Black, Yellow, Green, Blue and White and also Lambswool in our double sided version only with the quick connect using our Edge2000 adapter. These pads are available from all Presta distributors which include many body shop suppliers. We also allow people to special order them through any of their favorite online retail stores like AG, Danase, and whomever you want to ask. We specialize in special orders but the 6 inch wool pads are not really special order because we have been making them for many years under the Presta Qwik pad name but in our Edge2000 system. I hope this clears this up finally.
