Heya!

I've lurked around here, on and off, for a few years. I've always found the Click & Brag subforum fascinating; I love how dramatic the transformations can be.

I recently put a couple stupid scratches on my motorcycle, so I'm hoping I can ask some folks for advice on that, and maybe get a recommendation on someone I can get to minimize the visibility of the marks. I'm guessing the most appropriate place to post my questions is the Motorcycle and RV subforum, but if anyone more familiar with Autopia has a better idea, I'm all ears :)

So that's my introduction. There's a ton of invaluable information here, and I hope to learn a lot. I'm sure everyone is thrilled ;)

welcome to AF. do you have a polisher to try and reduce or remove the scratches or will you be doing this by hand?

First of all: hi everyone! Sorry I didn't get right to replying. I came down with some kind of cough that has me sleeping 18 hours of the day. But I'm here now...
where in ct ?
Old Saybrook.

Unfortunately, I don't believe the nature and location of the scratches lends itself to polishing. I left out the details in my original post because I wasn't sure if it was cool to just start dumping high-detail HelpMe posts in the newbie forum, but I'll fix that now.
Welcome aboard! Have any pictures of the bike and scratches?
I certainly do. Sorry about the low light. I just went down to roll it outside for a shot and saw that it's raining; didn't feel like standing in the rain with a cold ;)

In the wide shot you can see that I roughed up the lower right fairing also, but that doesn't really twist me up, and the fix is way more obvious than those other scratches.

Anyway, as you can see the scratches in question are on either side of the frame. They cannot be felt with your finger, and they aren't exceptionally visible even from short distances, but I don't want to leave it like that. I made a mistake removing it from the stand (an Abba unit from the UK - really cool and useful, just be more careful than I was). The frame is your standard aluminum supersport frame painted a matte black.

What I'm really hoping to do is get in touch with someone near-ish to me (within ~150mi, preferably) who feels confident they can reduce the appearance of the scratches by as much as possible. I'm fine with the bike not being perfect – it's not a show piece – but I want to believe that I did everything I could to keep it nice in spite of things like my own stupid mistakes.

I've called my dealership and a body shop that worked on my car, and neither of them seemed to want to touch it. Dealership told me I can use model enamel and a small brush, and bodyshop told me they'd have to take engine covers and things off to respray it. What about something in the middle? I don't want to do my own hobby store repairs, because the likelihood is that I'll make it more obvious, and I'm sure that kind of paint would flake off very quickly. And tearing the bike down to spray half the frame sounds way overblown. I just need some professional touch-up with a matched paint.

Anyway, I have confidence that you folks here will be able to point me in the best possible direction.
