Omfg!!!!

Why get mad? Make more money off it. Add pick up and delivery to your service for an extra 50-100 bucks. People with money but limited time don't even blink at paying for a convenience and will send you their friends as well.

You all make good points and I appreciate all the input. If they were to call again I would communicate with them about the need to pick up their car in a timely fashion. The pwenr had left a note on the seat of the car that listed some things that she wanted me to look at on the car. One of the things she listed was that she couldn't pick up the car until Sunday. That worked out great for me. But then, when it came time to pick it up, they forgot about the car, cell phone battery (allegedly) died, and they had put their two year old to bed before calling me. It just seemd VERY inconsiderate of them to just expect me to house their car.

I am fortunate enough to be able to do this as a side business and can be picky about who benefits from my services. My bottom line or my P&L isn't the most important thing in my detailing business. My customers being happy, me doing good work, enjoying what I do and surrounding myself with a great customer base filled with people that I enjoy doing work for is what's important to me. If If this were my sole means of employment then it would be different. I wouldn't be as picky and would be more apt to put up with the inconsiderate masses.

Like I said, you all made good points and I am not disagreeing with anyone here. My situation is a little different and I can afford to be picky. Also, like I said, if they were to call again, I would communicate about the last interaction and make sure that everything was on the table before I ever agreed to do the car.

Again, Thanks for all the comments guys! It's cool to have a place to talk about stuff like this!

I did a lady's car on Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and she didn't answer my phone calls or texts until wed. I thought I had been robbed, but she finally got around to calling me back and paying me.

OT Question, why does the word s t a r t get ****t on this forum, or is my computer on crack?

The customer picked up the car, doesn't frequent this website, was very happy with the car, doesn't know that I was upset, took business cards, talked about me doing their Benz and will never know the reason why I won't ever do a car for them again.

If they call again, make sure they understand the car must be picked up promptly or you will add a daily storage fee. When they drop off the car, have it written up and have them sign it. That ought to get the message across without having to fire a customer.

No offense, but you better hope this customer does not frequent this forum.

+1, I happen to be a happy customer of Mose and you never know who's lurking. Sorry to hear about the situation you were put in. Just keep in mind that when a customer has a good experience they will tell a few people, but when a customer has a bad experience they will tell everyone.

do the work, store the car, move cars around to accommodate customer, work on other cars, call client, work on cars, move cars around etc....not like you really took a lot out of your time to move the cars around...takes 10-15 min total for the whole day (if you move slow and multiple times, hell I move a car in and out of my garage > driveway to check work about 20 times per detail if I don't have proper lighting situation = >15 minutes)

you with the "don't care, don't want their business attitude" probably just turned off 5 prospective clients who were thinking about using you from this forum...you would be surprised at how many people find a quality detailer on this site...GOOD JOB

I find it funny how some with work lined up ***** about a client when there are too many people without a job....wanna switch roles???

hey mose, if you want to pass on details ill gladly take them off your hand, im just around the corner in roseville:2thumbs:

I don't want to keep this going guys. Everyone is entitled to their opinions of how a business should be run. Like I said in a previous post on this thread, I have been very fortunate to have some wonderful customers like Z33Driver. I work out of my home, have limited space and when a customer leaves a care for days on end I end up parking my own car outside. Not only that but if I should have another car show up...who's car gets left outside overnight? All I was saying is that when a person/customer "expects" me to house his car for three extra days, just because it's too inconvenient for them to pick it up, then there's a problem and I would rather not have those kinds of customers. I alos realize that sometimes life gets in the way and there's nothing you can do about that. But when it's just because you feel like it's not important enough to put in your schedule then it's something that needs to be addressed.

I have got quite a few jobs from this website and I appreciate every single one of them! I will continue to treat my customers with the utmost in respect and treat their cars as though they were my own.

It's not that I don't care about getting business. It's that I care about how I am treated. It would be hard for me to treat someone with respect if they aren't treating me the same way. I really don't think that's too much to ask....do you?

Again, I don't want this to turn into a big argument. My customers know how much they mean to me and how much I appreciate them, they are happy with the work I do and Thankfully they keep calling!

It makes me very happy and satisfied to know that you are happy with the work I do for you!! People like you are the kind of customers I want. They make me want to work harder and do a better job because they appreciate what I do!

Point taken about lurkers though.
