Ahunt01:

Yes the SC430 does look very nice with the new Zaino. Now this is after PIII-MG and Mez FP.

Also it's really not that perfect. It still has some minor swirls, since I really ran out of time. NAG NAG NAG.....

I'm also trying out 303 on rubber and vinyl as it also has UV protection.

I agree with the new Z5 being tougher to remove and sometime streak. I had to hit it with a mix of Z7/water that I use for claying.

Thanks for the complement on my SC430! More pics to come, including Zaino in the interior's birds-eye maple which is coated anyway with some type of clearcoat. Looks really good!

Deanski, have you had any bonding problems with the fillers in 3M PIII MG? I would think it's better to use 3M PIII MP instead of the MG. Do you know how abrasive either MG or MP compared to DACP? I'm in the process of picking the right products to give me a deeper, wetter shine.

Wow, the poll shows that a good majority of the new Z5 users find that both old & new Z5 perform about the same...

:doh Am I missing something here? :nixweiss

The new Z5 is better than the old Z5.............. 27.66%

The old Z5 is better than the new Z5.............. 10.64%

Both old & new Z5 perform about the same.........14.89%

The PIII-MG is just a glaze while MP is a polish, so the glaze has a finer finish in the end. As for bonding, I wash all finishes polished/glazed with Dawn then Zaino Z7 prior to Zaino application to strip oils/silicone off of it so I know I have a good bond. I then hit it as I mix the ZFX/Z5 and let it sit with Z6 on all panels.

Any glaze or final finishing product will give you a good point to start the Zaino. If you look at the finish right before Zaino and it has a very mirror look to it, you are at that point to start, otherwise, get it as clean and polished prior as Zaino does highlight some defects.

The new Z5 did seem to streak a little, but I mixed a spray bottle of Z7 and water to combat it and continued as normal.

I finished the SC430 with Menzerna FP on a grey pad, as I did not want any polish action from the pad, only from the product as if I was doing it by hand. This is also a good test of polish level of products by using a finish pad that add no additional level of polishing. That's how I govern and test some polishes/glazes.

The 3M PIII-MG was just to remove very light swirls and to bring up the shine, then switched to the Menzerna for the mirror effect.

After 3 coats of Z5 in one day, wait till next day and apply another 3 coats of Z5. Z6 between coats. Last day, I did my application of Z2.

Further assistance on Zaino, contact Sal and he can gladly guide you and offer the best advise on the products.

PIII Machine Glaze, despite the name, is not a glaze in the traditional sense of the word as we use it on Autopia; rather, it's an abrasive swirl mark remover with no fillers (as stated on its label). It's more agressive than 3M SMR, and I'd say it's a notch below FI-II in abrasiveness.

Thanks Tortoise.

Do you see a noticeable difference using Menzerna FP after the 3M PI-III MG?

Yes, it did bring out a final mirror effect on the finish. Just a reminder, I just used the grey finish pad as I wanted ONLY the polish to work. The 3M PIII-MG is a tad more agressive than previously thought, so I went to the Menz-FP.

The goal was to get a final polish/glaze prior to Zaino. I think it worked out well.

I still have minor swirls that I just did not get enough time to remove with the 3M PIII-MG. I went straight to washing and getting ready for the new Z5. It now has 3 coats Z5 and three of Z2.

Well an update. I just recieved my order, and I'm not sure if it's the new formula or not... Is this the new Z5 and Z2???

That sucks, maybe you can send it back? I think the new Z5 comes in a white bottle.

Z5 doesn't do that much hiding anyway, a little, but it won't solve all your problems.

I just took another pic, comparing the old-left and new-right. I still dunno if it's the new formula or not, but the new Zaino looks different than the old, despite the bottles looking the same, with the exception of a different cap on the new Z5.

Yeah, I just checked my Z5, yours looks bluish. Well, the Z2 is definitely the new one. I just thought I saw pics floating around of a white Z5 bottle.

l7avis, I too saw the Z5 in a white bottle, that's why I thought that I got the old stuff. I guess he stopped shipping it in the white bottle?

Interesting consistency of the new Z2. It doesn't stick the new sides of the bottle. Once I shake up the old Z2 it kinda coats the bottle and stays there, but this new stuff just kinda slides right off... Very interesting, what that means when applied to your paint I don't know. I'll find out this Saturday though:)

I put about 5 coats of Z5, and so far...wow. I looked at it in the sun and it looked stunning, I'll have to wait until a really sunny day to really tell, but so far I'm very impressed with Z5.

Sorry for the large pictures, it's as small as I could make them so they still showed detail.:)
