Pep boys has Rain X wheel protectant ina fancier smancier spray bottle,......seems it costs more now tooooo

So

Hey YOSTEVE

Your fave product is back on the shelves.........................look for it,,,,,

Autozone has it for $4.99 in the new baby blue bottle.

Glad to know that Pepboys has it now.

Btw, My local Big lots has the old black bottle for $1.99. Grabbed 2 bottles. So I am a happier man now.

Really liked this stuff.

I just picked some up this morning, first time user, any tips from the experienced users? after use do you use anything to clean your wheels?

The spray head on that bottle is incredibly fine, I would be interested in cleaning one up and using it for a QD sprayer if I could be sure its been cleansed of any of the original product.

It went on very easy, I just sprayed till the wheels were coated then went back and reapplied a very light coating, hope that was right.....

My advise is don't drive the car (OR don't use the brakes:p ) until the protectant has dried COMPLETELY. That is 100% dry.

This gives you the best result. When it is totally dry the treated surface will repel brake dust and dirt much better and less of them will stick on the wheel.

Your wheel should stay cleaner for longer period. I give them about 1 hour to dry but YMMV with weather/humidity difference.

I just spray on liberally and let dry. You are doing fine there.

I have to agree the spray bottle is the finest I have used.

My first time results are mixed, sure it was easy to clean them, but they streaked like hell. I will try an overnight dry time next time. They did sit for hours in 85 plus temp before I drove, I still had to use E1 AZ to get the streaks off, I will give it another shot. Keep in mind BMW brakes are notorious for making a mess so it might work a lot better on another car.

I do love the bottle though!

I'm currently testing my own little concoction. Basically, it is distilled water mixed with AIO and SG. I needed some use for SG, doesn't work on my paint, so I figure my wheels. Spray, set 5 minutes, wipe off. No streaks so far and it seems to repel the brake dust pretty well.

Yeah, it is worth stating again that the wheel has to be completely clean and it has to have time to dry. I had just a few very small spots of brake dust on accident on the wheels when I applied this stuff, and it locked the dust in the wheels' finish. It is gone now (I think), but this stuff is more of a pain to use than I thought.

I am going to experiment with it again, and see if it works better. Right now, I am trying to solve the problem at the source by using some low dust brake pads. I will test it on my factory rims a few more times, but I will have my custom rims on my car soon, and unfortunately, I don't yet have the confidence in this stuff to put it on my new $4000 rims.

Using A2Z on my rims has been good enough, still unsure as to whether this product is worth the time, effort, and money.
