OLD SCHOOL Autopia-CarCare Screen Shoot

Todd@RUPES

Just a regular guy
Here is what Autopia-CarCare looked like circa 2000! Interesting to note the link for AutopiaForums (one of the oldest discussion sites for car detailing). I'm feeling retro today, I think I will change my avatar to the old logo. :rockon

Merged:

Here are some pictures I have that show the evolution of the logo from Autopia-CarCare from its original form to current day.

The art deco logo that was the Autopia: Guide to Detailing

This changed shortly to this logo below. Here you can see the beginning of the logo that Autopia-CarCare would make famous. This logo was developed several months after the screen shot in the original post.

osabl1.jpg

The above logo was around for a little less than a year until the (then new) Porsche Carrera GT replaced it.

osabl2.jpg

Another revision of the Carrera GT logo.

osabl3.jpg

Finally a third revision of the Carrera GT logo which showed the Autopia Car Care logo. This was the header for the store.

osabl4.jpg

The last revision of Autopia-CarCare prior to PBMG resurrecting the brand.

osabl5.jpg

The latest version of Autopia-Carcare (that you are familiar) is a direct evolution from the Art Deco style that started around the turn of the century.

Hey I was older than 18!!!!

Todd, I see the old ACC had affiliation with CMA. HMMMM. What ACC the current Autopia.org? Isn't the current ACC the old Detail City? Can you run us through a history lesson? I'm curious.

I can give you the quick history lesson as I understand it.

Autopia-CarCare started as a 'blog' site that related to car care and car maintenance. It was expanded to a discussion forum as well, the original forum as named “AutopiaForums” (the same as it is today). This, to my understanding, predated vBulletin style forums that are popular today.

The original Autopia-CarCare, as blog site, was a 'feeder' for CMA/Proper Auto Care. At some point (shortly after the screen shot that I took), A-CC and CMA split. Autopia-CarCare became a detailing 'store'.

The original AutopiaForums (which was located at Autopia-CarPort) is the original discussion forum. At some point, likely with the switch to vBulletin the forum was shelved and a newer, non-original Autopia was formed. At some point the store (Autopia-Carcare) and forum (.org) separated.

PBMG purchased Autopia-CarCare with the idea of returning it to its hay day. At one point, Autopia-CarCare was the busiest and most known name in retail sites in our premium care industry. Part of Max's desire to return the Autopia brand to it's former glory was bringing back the original name of AutopiaForums, the original forum for Autopia-CarCare.

Man, that looks like a magazine flyer straight out of a '50s :)

Thanks for the history lesson. That was interesting. I was wondering what happened to my post count. I don't come here as much as I used to. I bought so much stuff back in the day I am still using it up, but I see there are some killer new products so I guess I will be spending money again. Autopia was always one of my favorite sites.
