it was an old worn foam pad that had a lot of hardened wax on it after it started moving the wax went everywhere. I was told it was clean and kept using it despite all the dust everywhere on the hood. The hood also may have had some pre existing wax still on it. Bottom line I screwed up.. I do believe it was the pad
