storm started west of the house around 17 miles out. path the tornado took was unexpected, turning south and headed for our home.
weather stations gave ample warnings around 22-30 minutes notice. most of the town fled south, which caused extreme traffic jams.
made it south of the house around 15 miles and was looking north at the storm. we were between the towns Tuttle and Minco on a back road.
made a few calls to check on friends and family before seeing the storm regrouping and coming at us, so we continued further south.
10 minutes later, we heard the radio announce another tornado at the location we just left.
continued south to Chickasha which appeared to be where everyeone else fled south to.
visited a park with the dogs for a bit, listened to the radio a bit more when they gave the clear, and started the trip home.
what normally takes 50 minutes required 2 hours & 30 minutes
traffic was re-re-routed by the highway patrol and power was out everywhere. has to be the first time i've seen the area completely black of business, homes or street lights.
only damage at the house was a few tree limbs and fence down. most of the neighborhood had roof or fence damage.
back in the office it's clear how close it hit.
looking at the forecast, more coming this week.
